Clunk!

Hello

For the last few months I've had a problem with something in the rear of my car. I have a few suspicions but wonder if anyone has had a similar problem in the past. After I've driven my 92 SVX for a while, if I go to make a sharp turn in either direction, I have a nasty clunking noise coming from the rear. Any insight?

Thanks, Joe

It could well be a problem involving your rear differential, but do not first jump to the most expensive conclusion. It is possible that sideways loading on suspension components could result in a worn bush, or sub frame mount causing the noise. Put a lever against everything so connected, in order to detect anything loose or worn.

Let's hope it is not the diff.

It could be a rear differential problem, but first do not at first jump to the most expensive conclusion. A worn or loose suspension or sub frame mount, could be the culprit because of lateral loads applied during cornering. Use lever between all such components and search for anything with excessive play.

Let's hope it is not the diff.

I was also confused by a server glitch. (This end. Not per Chris. ) The first post did not appear on the network after several attempts, so I posted another, at which time both came up together.
