holy sh!t

I just did the equivalent of pulling a bowling ball out of my b^tt, I just did the driver side knock sensor it took 4 hours... Its easy to get the sensor unbolted but its really a pain to get rewired and then bolted back up. One hint use a fish line to rewire the knock sensor...

the real problem is that my hand was large enough that I could not directly touch the darn thing.. And yes I had pulled the alternator..

tr
ps. I almost wonder if it would be easier, but more costly to pull the intake on the darn thing

Easy Pie!........

Be thankful it wasn't that easy! Mine was real easy to get at......after the engine was removed, AND the engine was apart..........TO REPAIR A BLOWN HEAD GASKET! Cost for basic head gasket repair..OVER $2300 !!!

good job bro!

P.S. Starting to...... FEEL BETTER !?

I feel your pain. It took 2 hours for both sensors on mine...and that was with 2 people.

Significant Technical Input
I take it, from your opening statement, that it would be easier getting the bowling ball in there than taking it out?

going in or out its going to be painful

I was a little pooped (pardon the pun) and frustrated when I posted this, so I hope I didn't offend anybody. Beav, I don't know what to say!

I hate to say it but I'm selling my svx, my wife is 6'2" and its not a good fit for her and I have two young kids so even though they fit ok its a workout putting them into their car seats... All I have to say about this forum is good things and I'll recommended it highly to anybody that I see driving an svx! May the force be with you and god bless all of you!

tr
ps btw I bought a 92 lexus ls 400 with 74k miles and it looks untouched, I paid 9k for it, the exact same price I paid for my 94 svx!

I did mine recently, same side, though passenger side for me. I started off taking off the manifold, until I asked for guidance, and discovered it could be done by shifting the alternator.

I have the workshop manual OK, but having done this job, and a few other fiddly ones on the SVX, I reckon it needs rewriting with a gynaecological chapter for certain jobs.

I can't remember whose write up it was, but if you remove the alt, and then shift the engine lift bracket (that holds the A/C) out of the way towards teh battery, it becomes really easy to do.

I think i managed to change the drivers side knock sensor in about 45 minutes with a couple people lending a hand here and there.

That's about how long it took me.

I figure changing the one on the rhs is way easier than the lhs one, which is buried under. Both are do-able, so that's a positive. Just takes time.

And small fingers"
