Merry Christmas to me...

Okay, so after flying to Charlotte, NC to spend a few days with my wife's family, we hitched a ride to FL with my brother and his girlfriend. On the way, I had to pick up my mom's Legacy wagon from a dealer in Gainesville. Apparently there was a seal between the diff and the engine...leaking oil...burning...smoke...expensive. If it had been caught before 60k miles, I guess it would have been taken care of by Subaru. Alas, the car has 90k on it.

When we finally finished the last leg of our trip, the hour drive south from Gainesville, opened the gate, drove through, closed the gate and drove onto the lawn (nobody in horse country here has a proper driveway), there was a surprise for me.

WOOHOO!

A '93 Justy under a big floodlight - complete with a red bow on the windshield.

'Oh, NO,' says my wife.

'Hee hee,' I say.

The car, being from Florida, has zero rust of ny kind. A mere 85,000 miles are on the odometer, but it's been towed for 20k. I needed new tires ($25 apiece from Sears - HA!) due to the flat towing, but other than that it's awesome.

Oddly enough, this little car hauls. Or at least it feels like it does when you can see so much pavement so close. I had it up to 80mph today and there wasn't a shudder or shake to be felt.

It's 2WD. Boo-hoo. I'm hoping I can transplant the other half of the drivetrain on next summer. Underneath there IS a tunnel for a driveshaft, so I have my fingers crossed. If I can, I'd really like to save the innards of the 5-speed, because it shifts so nicely.

Oh, and maybe also next summer...Justy Turbo. Heh...yeah, baby... <G>

What a funny little car.

So, instead of driving home in the '91 Camry my mom was going to give me, I'm taking the Justy. To Michigan. That's 20 hours. JOY!

I can't help but giggle when I drive this car.

I'll get back on tomorrow when my wife and I get to NC.

Nick,

To paraphrase an old saying; I guess you got your Justy deserts.

Justy the facts...

....and Justy in time for Christmas too...

I took one with the variable transmission for a drive once. Lots of pep for such a wee beastie. The engine keeping the same revs while the pulleys changed took some getting used to! Don

I dig the Justy because it's the polar opposite of the SVX. In that way, it's almost as fun for me to drive. It's light (1,850 pounds) and nimble. I don't have to worry about where I park it. It sips regular instead of gulping premium.

understood.

kind of the reason i dig my wife's GTI. of course it is light, has 150hp and tons of modification potential.
