Thumbs up Level 10 are great!

When our transmission failed, four years ago, I had it shipped to the US and rebuilt by Level 10. It was about much more expensive than getting it fixed over here, but after reading all the postings by Eric "Blondeman" and others I became convinced that it was the way to go.

Anyway, that rebuild lasted four years and 45000 miles. Not sure why it failed. I haven't heard of any other Level 10 failures on this site. The brake band had been slipping for a couple of weeks, and I never got around to adjusting it. Maybe that had something to do with it. Or maybe my local Subaru dealer put cheap fluid in it. I don't know.

Anyway, I contacted Level 10 and they offered to fix it for a very very good price - provided I paid for the shipping. Unfortunately the shipping plus the cost of removal/refitting over here was still looking rather expensive.

So I explained this to Level 10 and they sent me a PTS kit completely free of charge. All the clutches and seals necessary for my local transmission shop to do the repair. On their website this kit is priced at $525.

I think that's very good customer service. Maybe that's normal in the USA, but over here it would probably have been "Sorry sir, can't help you, that's out of warranty now".

I'm probably going to fit an extra cooler and filter this time. Hopefully this rebuild will last a bit longer.

Phil.

Been a while since I posted but drop in from month to month. In any case I sold my car to a gentleman from Canada and he flew down and drove to svx back. I had the Level 10 work done and the car didn't have any problems until a day after he got the car to his house. He e-mailed me stating that transmission fuild was all over his garage floor. I was pretty upset to here about it since it was such a great car for me. His shop was able to build it use the level 10 goodies and I hope they resolved whatever issue had caused it to fail.

So for me level 10 was great but it did die after a long trip back to canada.

That doesn't sound like a tranny failure. More likely a leaking hose or gasket. He probably overheated it after the fluid level dropped. Even a bulletproof tranny needs the proper fluid level.
