i hate my car.
so i'm driving back from upstate ny, i live in long island... yeah, a 200 mile drive. and my pretty little work of art dumps its 3rd tranny.. so now when i go to put my car in reverse... it goes straight. with a clunk. i love it... shoot me.
good thing I'm looking to buy this 96 tahoe down the street from me. at least i know the transmission has all 5 gears.

oh yeah, and the only gears that work are 3rd and 4th... and neutral makes the car go forward too... only with a sympathetic whine to it... i need a beer. oh, and i just put a new alternator in, changed all the wheel bearings, radiator, rebuilt the tranny 6 months ago... and an assortment of other wastes of money.

Where did you go for the tranny rebuild? How long was the warantee for ?

clunk is not from your tranny. Its from your front diff.
 Since your tranny is not working too well, I'd say go for 5 speed if you love (know how to use) 5 spd.

If you're willing to sell it for really cheap, I would think about buying it. I like a good challenge. I think I already asked you about it in another thread. How much would you let it go for? I need a decent shell for some plans I have.

the tranny's under warranty, so i'm going to bring it there tomorrow and have them piece it back together. i'm definitely selling it. some kid where i work wants to pay 3500, so i'm definitely going to unload it if it gets fixed.
