OBD-I or OBD-II for YM '95 and later .
Not sure if EVERY car sold in the US had to change to OBD-II in 1995.....or ?????
So did the SVX also change from OBD-I to OBD-II engine diagnostics (sensors, wiring, ecu, test mode connector, etc.) in 1995 and later years.... If yes, where could I find a wiring diagram for the OBD-II version. Warren C. |

I think it was 97 that the SVX went to OBD Deux

96-97 are ODB II Otherwise, you have ODBI
Also, ODBII cars don't have coin holders

ODB1 cars don't have coin holders??? Huh, that's a cool way to be able to tell them apart... So what was the major advantage of the ODB2 over the other one??? If there is one...

On Board Diagnostic version II has a ton of advantages over ODB 1. One of them is that all cars equipt with ODBII can be read with the same reader and majority of common error codes can be read using the same machine. So you don't need a Subaru Reader just for Subaru cars, you can use a GM reader on Subaru car and you will know what's wrong with the car.
It can also tell you many other details like RPM, oil pressure etc from one port rather than probing different sensors and trying to read what each electronic signal means. Also, if you can send the right signals, you can roll up/down your windows, unrelease the trunk (if equipt with electronic trunk) etc.
