Removing seats when motors don't work
I want to pull out my drivers seat but the motor is fried, so I can't really get to the bolts.
Is there any way to manually move the seat? |

Re: Removing seats when motors don't work
There is a 14mm nut on the track closer to the door, under the seat and closer to the front, that can be removed. This will allow the seat will slide on the track independently of the motor, allowing you to unbolt it completely.

Re: Removing seats when motors don't work
My apologies. My explanation was slightly incorrect. There are attachment nuts for the motor on both tracks. The procedure for removing the DS seat in a LHD car would be as follows: 1) Remove plastic covers 2) Remove BOTH front seat bolts. 3)Reach in with a 14mm ratcheting wrench and undo the rear bolt on the left side. 4) Tilt seat back to expose said bolts. You can see where the motor bolts to the track in the photo of the right side rail, taken from the front of the seat looking underneath. The silver nut is the attachment for the motor.

Re: Removing seats when motors don't work
This won't help to remove the seat but in my experience with the electric seat, the motor hasn't fried. At the end of the travel of movement, there are pinkish redish plastic washers that stop the gear at the end of its travel of the track (so 2 plastic washers on each track) and prevent over travelling. My plastic washer broke and the next time I used the motor (the one for knee height) it overtravelled and wedged the gear too far, if you flick the switch and get no seat movement and lights in your car dim, you have a short. The plastic washers bits usually just fall onto the car and eventually neat the foot area.
The washers can't be bought separately, you have to buy the whole mechanism. |

Re: Removing seats when motors don't work
Might recount your pocket change!
I did and found the rest of mine by removing my drivers seat and shaking it a bit! Actually changed my net worth a bunch!! Keith |
