So your SVX won't start??

Before you spend an hour at night with a failing flashlight to undo the top of the driver side timing cover, and disconnect the O2 sensors, and check for codes, and disconnect the fuel line to check for fuel, and pull a coil and plug to check for spark, and swap a MAF off of your Legacy, and get it towed at 11:00 at night an hour to your house, and then on your next weekend off pull the radiator out and the whole front end apart to find the timing belt is dead on, then have a friend drive two hours out of his way on a 90* day with no air conditioning in their truck, check one thing...

Make sure that the connector didn't become disconnected from the TPS sensor...

How did you find out it was that? Visually? I just adjusted mine today, I'm going to double check my plug now!

engine die and no re-start? air tube AFTER MAF disconnected

everything fine when shut off now power gone when turning key to start... bad mains connections, unless slamming the door cures it, then it's loose fuse link :banghead:

very touchy throttle... air filter plugged

loss of performance after prolonged driving in near freezing rain, sleet, snow ... water soaked AIR filter

runs good for short while then loss of power, repeat ... plugged fuel filter

died while idling, no restart ... sripped dist. drive gear due to siezed shaft

not quite right, slightly rougher idle and not as much power ... valve adjustment, if persistent ... bent pushtube

gas leaking into cabin ... return hose loose allowing leak after completely filling tank and parking in heated garage

excessive fuel consumption or hard start or black smoke ... choke not working

backfiring after installing new cap ... wrong markings on cap

clutch pedal floppy or stuck to floor ... excessively loose adjustment

fuses blow, windows, turn signals, 4x4, cruise control ,etc. don't work ... clean ALL grounds

mysterious impossible to find coolant leak ... hose rubbed by clutch lever

oil pressure light always on after starting ... gauge type sending unit used to replace switch

volt meter goes to 18 ... no battery connection

engine overheating ... radio fuse blown

no spark ... fuel pump fuse blown

volt meter not above 12 ... alt plug disconnected

1 qt oil loss / tank of fuel ... loose oil pan and valve covers

oil pressure goes down on corners ... VERY low oil
dead battery ... forgot you weren't driving a gen2 or newer subaru and left the lights on

won't run below 2k ... dying ignition module

won't start or dies after warming up ... dying ignition module

very picky about every detail of your car ... typical SVX owner

some of these may be slightly off topic, but are all true and happened to me, and are good to keep in mind
