swapping out an ABS sensor

well, as luck would have it, no good repair deed goes unpunished. looks like I have to replace the front driver side ABS sensor (long story as to why!). I have a spare unit from the passenger side front knuckle BUT the sensors appear to be left/right and frt/back specific. Has anyone used a sensor from another location on the car and removed the mounting tab (leaving enough tab for depth setting) and used loc-tite to secure it in place? I would think that the important issues are sensor gap and spade tip clocking angle (relative to the tone ring). comments?

thanks everyone!
