Moderator question
Is this dumb? Would it be possible to have a map on the site that tells where members are located. Then you can see who lives close to you for meets and stuff. I don't know how difficult it would be to add, just thought it would be cool.

Some members might not want others to know where they're located. I mean I wouldn't want anyone to know I live in Indialantic FL 32903 for example - oops
actually I like the idea and am willing to volunteer a first draft (and more work if wanted). One issue obviously is size. |

The moderators don't have the ability to do something like that. It is the operators of the site that could do it or not. If I remember correctely, that was asked before and it is not possible. That is why we have the forums for the different areas. I have had the people in the Northwest section give me information and then shared it with others of that forum. (by permission only of course) The list gives phone numbers, addresses, and information about the cars. It has been very helpful in getting meets together. You just need someone to organize the area. Good luck.

it could be put in a locker or?
here's a sample I put in my locker - I only labeled my user name, but I can label addresses or phone number or ? http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/lee/12807.gif I am willing to put in the little bit of work required if anybody wants one for a region or whatever. I may try a web page presentation, but my use of html is poor at best, not sure how to allow a user to push in a pin and still have site security. |

Is it possible to add the ZIP code to the profile and then be able to sort a memeber list by zip code?

It would not be hard for someone to create a clickable map that allows you to click on a state and get a list of who lives in that state. It would be up to people to volunteer the info if they wanted to be added or not.
And no, I'm not volunteering to make it. lol

Yep, it's possible, but, as our friend Rally indicates, it'll take a lot of work. If someone's willing, I'm sure provisions could be made to add it somewhere. I'm sure we've got the talent, if they've got the time. Unfortuntealy, I have neither. Could it possibly be a "tag team" effort? Different people writing the code for different parts of the country, then, sending all that to a central "keeper" to be input into a map. Just thinking out loud. This question has been asked numerous times, but, no one has ever taken up the cause. T'would be sweet, though.
