EMRA Time Trial

I ran the SVX in a time trial today. The day went like this, get lost on the way there, be late for the registration, late for the divers meeting, take all the stuff out of my car, get the tech inspection, be late new driver class. Get a great instructor, Bob Brejack and have him drive the SVX for a few laps showing me the lines, switch seats and run the first practice session (15mins), run the second session with Bob as a passenger (15mins), get signed off on completion of training, (I did pretty good ), drive the third session by myself (30mins). Leave before the timed runs because the SVX had problems, brake fad, wobble rotors, leaking front crank seal, smoking right front brake with a rim so hot the glue for the tape weights melted and the balance weights fell off after I stopped.

It was the most fun thing I ever have done. (Yes that's right)Coming out of a hair pin turn at 30mph, stomping on the gas which puts the car into a short accelerating power slide and then into another corner at full bore, tires sliding at the apex with the gas to the floor and then a third corner at 70, braking for a left and then flooring it most of the way around the banked south corner of the Pocono speedway at 95 mph What could be better than that?

You know what the best part is?

You did it in an SVX?

You had fun?

It was worth it?

Better than sex?

I'm going to have to push my car to some of it's limits soon. It's been a while. We have auto-x every once in a while and there's a drag strip/road course about an hour away from me.

It's been almost 2 years since I tried an auto-x.

I haven't tried auto cross yet. I would be happier if I could do a few laps on the course. AutoX is much more reasonable price wise. How do like autoX? What kind of road course is by you?

It's located at Gimli, Manitoba.

It's shared with the drag strip. Here's some info on the road racing.

I am very pleased with this time trial racing. I can run the SVX and all I have to have is a helmet. Oh a SVX in good working order. I think it is a relatively safe way to race. There is a passing zone during practice and everyone stays spaced nicely. Unfortunately somebody in an Audi stuffed the nose into a wall.

That must have been sad to see. Which model Audi was it?

I'm not sure if it was A4 or A6 but it was pretty new. We didn't see it happen as it was over a hill. I just it afterwards on the flat bed. They thought the driver was going to be okay.
