The green one

The sighting was in Northridge, about 3 miles from where I live in Chatsworth. BlackBeautySVX, I bought my pearlie from the PO in Carlsbad. Then drove it home 150 miles in 100 degree heat with no AC.

Anyway, guys (and gals) I'm for a meet anywhere between the Mexican border and San Francisco. I might not bring the SVX, but I travel I-5 and the 101 several times a year to visit my best friend who teaches at SF State U.

Let's see if we can put something together this spring, wherever most people want it.

I know Ryu and NomakeWan are not to far from me in So.Cal.

good to hear there are other svx drivers in san diego area. i drive my black svx daily to work along the I-5 and 78 corridor. hope to see you all out there.

it would be great to see a state wide gathering of SVX somewhere half-way between SF and SD to be fair to everyone...maybe fresno, bakersfield, tulare. i have never been to any of these places but they are centrally located and offer a good drive for a svx convoy.

any thoughts....

My two pennies would be somewhere coastal, SLO area perhaps? A friend pointed me to some great campgrounds on the centeral coast, and I have the big fat book of california camp grounds if needed

great idea...i haven't been to slo for years. that would be a good drive north bound but even better drive south bound through big sur. i use to drive to Julia Pfeiffer State Park and watch the waterfall plunge into the ocean.

what does everyone else think.
if we can get agreement on location, we can then debate dates.

Only question then is...When?

OK, since there finally seems to be some momentum, let's do it. Last year Alfa Club had their Wine Tour based out of the Santa Maria Inn, reasonable prices and great location. There's a lot of great places up the road in SLO as well. Let's set a date and get working on it.

SLO in May looks good

SLO in early May looks good to me. We need to pick a hotel/motel to use as a base, then see if they will give us a group rate. A nice plan would be to get together on Friday night for dinner, then have a nice road tour on Saturday, and maybe a small show and shine on Sunday morning after breakfast, then go home. At least that's the way the other car clubs I belong/have belonged to have done it.

Let us all know.

Paul

next steps

i like the agenda. works for me.

lets set a deadline to determine the number interested in coming before calling a hotel to reserve rooms. a deadline of 3/31 for those interested will still give us enough time to get a deal with a meet date of 5/10-11.

is there anyone else that is interested in a Cali meet? are these dates good for everyone?

That should work

That looks good. I have some friends in Alfa club who know that area fairly well, (we go on wine tours there every few years or so) and I will get some suggestions from them. Ideal would be to stay at the wild Madonna Inn, but their rates are as outrageous as their room decor.

As an SLO-town native I'd recommend we look at Pismo Beach/Shell Beach area for motel accommodations. McClintock's Steakhouse is always yummy! Our previous meet included a drive out See Canyon/Perfumo Canyon Road from Avila Beach meeting point to SLO. The routes from Arroyo Grande East on either 227 and/or Edna Road are worth considering as well, and the always beautiful Hiway 1 from SLO to Hearst Castle and beyond are cool alternatives. Also Los Osos Valley Rd from SLO to Baywood Park and Montana Del Oro to Morro Bay are nice routes. All excellent photo-ops!

I'm definitely interested in this meet!!

SLO in May

Hi,
Looks better and better. That's Mother's day weekend, does that matter to anyone? What's also interesting is that I just talked to the person setting up Alfa Club's wine tour, and it's in SLO that weekend. Which would, for purposes of leveraging a good rate from a hotel/motel, be a good thing to get together with. Plus, they're a bunch of real car enthusiasts too. I alternatively show up at meetings in the 164 or the SVX. And McClintock's Steak House sounds great for dinner.
This might be fun to coordinate!]

Alfa and SVX on the same roads....you don't see that everyday. the routes propose seems like great rides on earth. i am definitely in for SLO on May 10-11.

i would hope other Cali SVXers will join in so we can really represent strong. it would be great if we could get 8-10 SVXs to attend. i'll buy the first round at McClintock.

Matt
