Opinions on paint scheme...

Well the ebony has been getting a lot of attention lately and I am now thinking about bodywork. What does everyone think about doing something like this...

Imagine a two tone svx with the lower part satin black and the upper part gloss black....

They paint sceme looks good but not on an SVX. Why not just repaint the car in a tricoat black? or another shade of black from other car companies?

+1

If your thinking to separate the gloss and flat where you would usually go to the black top on the SVX I don't think you'd be happy with it.... I just don't see it looking quite right... on this ride... heck yeah looks great!!

I LIKE IT! Will you put the black powder coated calipers on this one? I just got back around to working on them and should have them ready for powdercoating this weekend.

It looks good when it's really clean and you can see that it is supposed to be gloss and matt. But I think when it is dirty it will look like you have bad paint fade on the matt panels.

Re: Opinions on paint scheme...

That is hilarious!! I despise those stick on side vents..... He cheaped out on those even though he went to town on the hood... and well done if I say so... it took a minute but it grows on you..... missed a window on the tint too
I was actually wondering how that would work up here in Wisconsin... our tint laws are pretty annoying... 35 in the back, 50 on the front "vent" windows... but technically the stationary front window really isn't a "vent" window now is it... Perhaps I should run it past one of my buddies down town... cuz lemme tell ya, I NEED TINT!!!!

Re: Opinions on paint scheme...

Holy crap, Tom... where did you find that rice monstrosity? I can't figure out why I am seeing those Buick tri-vents everywhere nowadays. I've seen them on Civics, Caddilacs, and even Mercedes/BMWs. Why do people think they look cool?!? The wing, paint job, and vinyl are terrible... but the "vents" as well... argh!

BTW... I'm going to agree that while the satin/gloss combo could look good... it doesn't seem like it would fit the lines of the SVX. I also think you have pretty good taste, so you'll do the right thing.
