O/T - SVX mentioned in Car & Driver

The current issue of Car & Driver has TWO mentions of the SVX.

First, there's a comparison of sports cars (Honda S2000, Audi TT, Mustang Mach 1, and Nissan 350Z). In the intro to the article, the writer mentions that sports cars "fetching less than $40,000 used to be as thick on the ground as thistle weed . . How about the Volkswagen Corrado and Subaru SVX? All of them flat-lined from the effects of rising prices, soaring insurance costs, and lack of interest from peak earners." No mention of trannies or bearings . . .

By the way, the rankings (last to first) were the Audi, the Honda, the Mustang, and the Z.

There's also a road test of the Baja, subtitled "Something Weird This Way Comes." It includes the obligatory reference to the BRAT (who here knew that was an acronym standing for Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter?). To prove their allegation that Subarus are just plain weird, they say "Remember the Justy? Remember the SVX, with its Batman windows? Remember the AMC Eagle? Wait, Subaru didn't build that last one, but it could have. At Subaru, stuff like this just happens. "

The most humorous comment in the Baja article was a suggestion that Subaru make some design changes to the Baja so that pedestrians wouldn't shout "What happened, you lose the ass off your Outback?" Second most humorous comment was calling the back end the "Herve Villechaize Memorial cargo bed".

The writer does poke considerable fun at the Baja, in typical Car & Driver fashion, but is pretty positive about its handling and ride. He also suggests saving $950 by just buying an Outback.
