As a person born and with much family/interest in Michigan, and as a person who's been all around the US, I can safely say without bias the worst roads I have seen were not in Michigan, and I have driven from Oscoda to Orlando.
Where are the worst roads? I don't know. The worst roads I've personally seen are the ones I drive every day to work, mostly by choice because it is a bit quicker than the nice roads.
