How interesting. Japanese efficiency?
I remember touring a couple of GM plants in the '70's-'80's (the old full-size plant in Fremont, now the NUMMI facility, and the late Camaro plant in Van Nuys-now a shopping mall/offices) and there was no rhyme or reason to the colors coming down the line - a blue car followed by a green followed by a white, etc.

If you go search for autotrader, there're currently two 96s for sale, one last 3# is 338 is green and one last 3# is 558 is red.

I don't know The green one has no pic.... but there's the SVX listed from a subaru dealer...
There's now a Polo Green SVX on Ebay production #336:

This manufacture date would make your 92 color Dark Teal (code 169) also known as Peacock Blue metallic (code 269). This was the only green offered in 92.

The Polo Greens (code 517) are exclusive to the 96 and 97.

My theory on the apparent random mix & match of colors coming down an assembly line is this: the priority on the line is the trim level, not color. Such as V-8's with automatics and then V-6's with manual transmissions, or fully optioned cars and then the lowline models. Don't know about SVX's, maybe a batch of LS-L's and then some ....errr...whatever they called the ones that weren't LS-L's
Make sense?

That's an interesting point. From what I understand of automotive assembly lines in the US (might be different in Japan) the VIN plates are stamped onto the frame shortly after painting (which sets the production #).

The '96 model is very interesting as there's a night-and-day difference between the frame on an L model and the one on the LSi. The LSi models were the only ones that got a sunroof!

Maybe we should re-arrange the production numbers to determine if the L & LSi models are grouped together in little 'pockets' on the assembly lines??? (I seriously doubt that they produced L models for half of the year and then LSi models the other half)

I do stand corrected... in the paperwork I have its listed as dark teal. Mine is the upscale AWD LS-L as well.

93? lol I like my 92.. no one believes how old it is... Some people even think its a new subaru that just came out. I dont figure how they can think that since there are 3 other SVX's here around Arlington... including an UGLY white/black one... ugh.

Any why does mine not have the SVX badges on the sides?

Hmm... so us early SVX's dont get honorably adorned eh? lol even tho it is a LS-L...

And I always thought every Subaru was AWD... wasnt until I found this site that i found that some are not... Doesnt matter... All mine does is spin one front and one rear tire... still only 2 wheels lol

I personally like the look without the added badging. It adds to the mysteriousness.
