Smile Hopefully, a new recruit.

I was tooling around the neighborhood today in my old van, when an unfamiliar green (uh.. excuse me, polo) SVX with a PA tag crossed an intersection in front of me. I did the natural thing we fanatics do - followed him home & knocked on the door. I got a warm welcome & handed the club card to Jim. C. of Media, PA, (just west of Philly). He was visiting family, but took the time to chat SVXese with me for 20 minutes or so. Yes, Jim is a big SVX and Subaru fan, & yes, he hadn't heard about the club. His is a '95 Lsi in very nice shape, on its third tranny, luckily covered by a warranty. I naturally prattled on about Reading, & the Indiana Biggie. Jim seems the type of guy who'd love to attend, so... I told him to visit us & join up.
And yes, I warned him about some of the wackiness that goes on here, not that I would personally be involved in such foolishness.
So Jim... If you get here soon, consider this your first welcome.
Ron M.

oh i thought it's just me. oh we do have the same naturally fantastic sick - followed someone (actually the ~X car man) home. i did it a couple times too but sometimes because of the traffic things so got lost. and, sometimes i wasn't in my svx was harder to catch the attentions. i did have the same experiences after owning my svx, calling someone, looking for someone, who never met and really talked, and to talk about svx things more than 30~mins on the phone.....

i tot the readingiii is in the morgantown~my town. oh maybe i could pull 5 to 10 svx cars w/ diff colors to welcome you guys at next april~a surprise. oh it's in morgantown in pa. svx is still a rare car in my town but i did see svxes on and off. sometimes i could see 5-6 svxes/day in town including mine. (usually i saw 'em they didn't see me ) i could actually see other svx almost anytime if i want. i usually know about where they'd appear....

PS:how does the club card look like? never seen one. picture?

No, but I did suggest filling the tranny with synthetic zinfandel.
It's great on corn flakes too!
Ron.

OK, next round I'll upgrade to Mae West. I know - "There he goes showing his old age again".

At least West was a little more "discreet" in her "come-ons." I'm only 46 and still like to watch West, Fields, L&H, A&C . . . what's even greater is, my 16 year-old daughter's favorite movie is "Court Jester" starring Danny Kaye, and my Son listens to Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra regularly (he's 13), so it's not a matter of age. Perhaps we're (my family) just a bit ol' fashioned (which, I think, is a GOOD thing).
