Well.. I managed to find another (Opinions?)

Alright.. Again, like the '95 Polo, this is pre-mechanic inspection.

'94 LSi
Laguna Blue
Clean CarFax
3rd owner
114,000 miles

Regular maintenence.
New timing belt 2 weeks ago
New brakes 2 months ago
Rebuilt tranny 6 months ago, 1.5 years warranty left.
(Receipts for all)

Needs new front tires
Needs new rotors

Exterior: In good condition, couple parking dings here and there, nothing over the size of a half-dollar.

Interior: All leather in good shape, no cracks, etc.

Stereo works fine. AC blows cold. Antenna got snapped off in a carwash and the company wouldn't pay for it.

Guy is asking $4,700 for it, which places it right about at the KBB and NADA for "Good" condition.

He's only about 120 miles from me, so this one's definitely doable...

Just looking for opinions on price, etc.

Don't have any photos yet, he'll be getting some and emailing them to me in a couple days.

Also, anyone know any reputable mechanics in the Joilet, IL area whom I could send this to for the inspection?

The seller has someone in mind, but call me paranoid, I'd rather use one I picked.

(Edit: I do have one pict, but it's absolutely horrible quality.. However, you can see that the wheels are, in fact, in the right place! )

Looks great. Be sure when you test drive it to make sure the tranny shifts fine and make sure to notice anything and everything. Turn on the a/c and drive too. Tires will cost about 500 or so....could probably get it cheaper on tirerack.com. Rotors shouldnt be that much...their on ebay for 259 for all 4.

Agreed.

I must say Knightwulf that I have a soft spot for Laguna Blue - it is just an awesome color on an SVX. I'd definitely go and test drive the car and make sure the trans, rear wheel bearings. etc. are all in good shape. If it checks out, offer the guy 4K to start with and maybe $4,400 max.

Okay, when you say $500 for the tires, I can only assume you're referring to all 4? (As I'd stated that only the front needed to be replaced.)

I was praying this wasn't some as-of-yet-undiscovered high CoO I had yet to find about the SVX.

I was looking at the 225/50-16 Pirelli PZero Nero M&S (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ero+Nero+M%26S) at Tirerack.com and it looks to be about $440 w/shipping for a set of 4.

Right now, I'm just looking for a good set of A/S as with the initial cost of the vehicle and getting a few things up to spec, I'm not going to be able to afford a seperate set of winter tires.

Potenza RE950's (v rated) are$178 each and are way better than Z rated dunlops the previous owner had put on. Thats Bridgestone/Firestone including everything mounting balancing roadhazard pro-rating etc.

i can't cite a reference this moment, but i think I remember something from Subaru about never replacing less than 4 at once on any Subaru AWD product...

You are correct. It is important to replace all 4 as the rolling circumference must be the same on all tires

If it only needs two tires, than only two may have been replaced before. That would explain the tranny rebuild.....

Yes i am referring to all four. In an AWD car as ppl have mentioned you need to replace all 4 tires. Its not good for the AWD system to have 2 good tires and 2 bad. I paid 585 for all 4 tires...balancing..alignment...and a 30 dollar warranty for 60 k miles. But as i said if you get em from tire rack it could possibly be cheaper than that.
