Rear seat belt noise

My passenger side rear seat belt reel buzzs between 35-40 mph. It does not appear to have any user servicable access. Has anyone else had this problem? What is the fix? Do I just need to buy a new one? Anyone with a used one that does not buzz? I have a '92 LS-L with a grey interior. Thanks. Bill Z

Re: Rear seat belt noise

How do you know the speed of the seat belt reel and are you sure it is going 35 to 40 mph?

I haven't heard of this before. You need to take off the side molding to get to it. Once you do, check to see if anything has gotten into the reel. If not, there should be used ones that are ok for sale here. Post a WTB post in that forum. Good luck.

what does "buzzs" mean? There isn't anything electric in there.. its all mechanical. Are you sure it's not one the rear speakers cracking? Or the rear strut mounts clacking when the road is bumpy? Also sometimes the rings holding the trunk carpet down will come loose, falling into small openings and making jingle jangle sounds as you drive...

ask me how I know.
