I don't exactly see the problem with the functionality of the Trans Am seats, but I agree with the cheap look. I gasped when I first started looking around for Firebirds, and I thought that there was something messed up about the cars at first... Then I noticed every car had the gap, etc...
I'm personally not that big a fan of leather, though... It wears out too easily, gets blazing hot in the sun, lets you slide all over during a hard turn... I had window tint on my old SVX, and it was still hotter in that car than in my black Firebird. Big time. Plus, my SVX had major scratches on the leather when I first bought it (used). I guess I should be thankful it didn't have holes like the Trans Ams. Oh yeah, I was kinda hoping Shadow would come in here.. I saw some of his posts, and his sig said he had a Lingenfelter WS6, and I was curious what distinguished his car as a Lingenfelter. Last edited by Red SVX 92; 04-26-2005 at 11:41 AM. |

Iunno I just found them more comfortable. :/
Maybe with a better suspension I won't need better seats.

ahhh my first love.... Firebirds. I have a 87 Forumla 350 (yes, its a WS6, all thirdgen formulas were). She wasn't close to stock engine wise when she was taken off the road... she is under the knife for the next year or so.
I have swapped in a LS1 T56 and have most of the parts to put in my LS1. But now I'm saving more pennies until this fall when the price of the LS7 is announced... come jan, I might have to order custom Formula 427 badges for the side instead of the formula 383 ones I was pondering w/ my ls1. I also have a set of 30th anniversary T/A wheels waiting to go on... Nothing sounds better than a cammed open header V-8. mmmmmm orgasmic.

Nothing smells like a V8 with a cam and no cats either.

i just got rid of my 1987 trans am gta. i absolutely loved the seats in it and the digital dash. it had the 350 and after i blew that one up(f_ck castrol gtx!) i dropped in one with aluminum heads from an 87 vette.unfortunately it was an auto(700r4 4of them in one year!!!!!)but when the tranny was working i'd crusk 90% of the cars i came across. i only lost 3 races in 4 years! to an impala ss with a paxton supercharger, a camaro ss, (my distributor was loose and running at 2 degrees retarded!!!!) and to a 2001 mustang gt with a supercharger(damn cheater). it was far from stock of course. but i love my svx just as much i just wish i could get it to go faster dammit! so far i've punched out the main cat and have a k&n air filter and throttle body bypass.checked out the computer but it seems to be the of the newer design(nothing to crush or cut).i also have the white faced gauges. never thought i;d say it but i love my subie!

Wow... kind of similar... far from stock L98's. Blew multiple 700R4's in one year too. My Formula does have the Ultima Interior...so I have the TA seats... and they are perfect. All those 700r4's are why im converting to the T56....of course Im doing a GEN III swap too... but all that will take some time. I like my subie...but love my bird...it looks a lot meaner too. I wish my SVX was faster too. (cat back, filter, chip, stg 1 shift, have some other crap to install too) 14.9 in the 1/4 is slow....but its not a race car after all....

Go to the thirdgen.org clasifieds to sell you stuff... I don't know anyone who needs those parts currently. As far as my formy... ported siamesed upper lower plenums w/ AS&M runners... 30lb injectors, 58mm throttle body... cam, ported stock heads, headers, SLP 2 on the left exhaust, no cat, 3.91 rear gears in stock 9 bolt, slp cold air intake, prolly a bunch of other crap i've forgot. All that is sold off now.... it was a low 12's car as I recall... Now its time for Gen III power... so I can go snake hunting. I will never sell my firebird.... the svx goes first... something is just wonderful about tire destroying power.

I forgot about all that lil crap... chip, thermostat, etc. etc. etc. As for you GTA, I'll take it! Nice car.... here is an incredibly horrible picture of my formula from about a year ago when I started tearing it down....it hadn't been washed in a few months and the rear deck is primered(adding 4th gen wing, just haven't bolted it on) and still w/ the old wheels on it... the drive train is out...so that is why it is sitting so damed high up. Hope its not to ugly for you all.... and is the pic of the new wheels... (pic from the add I purchased them from, can't find any of my other pics....)
