Well we got back home around 1:30 after the flatbed dropped the SVX off at Becker Subaru in Allentown. For those who didn't make it to Reading III, my SVX blew it's Tranny 4 miles from the Holiday Inn in Morgantown. At least we got alot of photos and to meet some of the members in person. Hope eveyone that went on the covered bridge tour had a good time. I believe we had 35 SVX's at the hotel. Hope to make it to Reading IV.

The weather was chilly but the warmth of the SVX group made up for that in no time.

Mary and I had a great time and really enjoyed everyone we had a chance to speak with. Sorry we didn't have time to meet with everyone but the evening seemed to go so fast.

Hope everyone had a safe trip home.

Hi,

Thanks to the wonderful people who are SVXers Rosie (The Beautiful Naviguesser) and I had a wonderful time. I think there we 33 SVXes that showed up at the Holiday Inn at Morgantown PA. I counted 30 at the Burger King pit stop on the tour. When we left the Holiday Inn about 9:45 PM the "GUYS" were detailing Lwin's new Pearly.
What a great bunch of people.

The funniest thing that happened was I missed a turn on the tour. Then, following the directions, I made a left turn on a particular route. I realized the mistake, made a u-turn and was going the other way on this route. I was the lead car, with about 20 SVXes behind me. Anyway, here come the 10 straggler SVXes in the opposite direction. You should have seen the looks and facial expressions of those drivers when they saw us.

Once again the true spirit of this group has shone through to exemplify the fact that SVXers are more than just a group of car freaks. As some of you know, the trusty drywall screw that became a fixture in my rear tire for over six months, finally got de-screwed & took all the air with it about 10 miles south of Morgantown; forcing a sweaty ordeal with the "donut". While the donut is real cute & non-directional, it ain't much for a rally.
As I was sobbing uncontrollably by the fact that I was doomed to motoring oblivion on THE DAY, one of our members came to the rescue.
Warren & Sandy (SJLWEL at Yahoo) insisted on driving all the way back to their home, 30 minutes away, picking up a spare tire & THEN offering me their 2nd SVX to drive on the tour!!!
I declined on the generous offer to drive the spare SVX, but the spare tire was a real aggravation saver, since I was looking at 100 mile plus return trip on a donut. I can't say enough about their generosity. Oh - & thanks to Rufus for letting me take the tour in his car. (Warren, your back seat was nice LOOKING, but uhhh....). Sorry for all the spilled coffee, Rufus, but I'm sure my navigation skills more than made up for the debris I left behind. I think we only made six U-turns all day.

Well, It was certainly a meet I'll remember for a long time.

As most of you know, Lwin's 94 seized up a left rear bearing in Indiana, forcing a 2 hour layover on the tollway coordinating towing it in. The we piled all of Lwin's belongings (except his proof of insurance card) into my car for an overly cozy ride.

Then we hit traffic in PA and got delayed another 2 hours. We ended up rolling into Morgantown about 10:15 pm about 4:15 behind schedule. The resteraunt was closed, so we just hit the bar and called it a night.

Lwin had someone back home searching for a new car for him and after 5 of the 6 covered bridges, we broke from the pack and went to go get him a new SVX.

We rolled into the car dealer's about 5:45. Took the car for a spin and Lwin bought it. The problem was that PA apparantly requires proof of insurance BEFORE you can buy a car, which was in Lwin's 94 at a closed dealership in Ft. Wayne, IN. So after some negotiation even Lary III would be proud of, Lwin had a beautiful 92 Pearlie and we were back to Morgantown.

We stopped along the way at a Target to get a rear liscense plate cover like Maria's (blow through many tollbooths with that liscense cover on Maria?) and we were on our way back... except Lwin's car was dead.

We jumped it and were back on our way to Morgantown. Get back in time for dinner (but not in time to meet everyone at the Shady Maple) and head back to the bar.

Sunday we started back home and quickly discovered Lwin's electrical demon. When the battery is fully charged, the alternator won't kick in, but when the battery is dead and it gets a jump start, the alternator will work until the car is turned off. So minus an alternator, he got an awesome deal (I'm very jealous).

All in all, it was a great weekend, its just too bad we couldn't spend more time with all of you, but that's how it goes.

On an uplifting note, I think there is a strong possibility that Brian will show up to Reading IV in his own SVX...

PS: I now know what "Love, Peace, and Turnpike" means.

Larry, thanks for all your work in coordinating the meet. You and Rosie are national treasures in my book.

Doug -- You're always a treat. Sorry you had to do so much running so you could've spent more time where you wanted to be -- in the bah!!!

Colin -- Always a pleasure to be around you and Irene. You add so much class to this rag-tag group.

Gary -- Great to finally meet you face to face. And, you're right, I don't always mean things the way you read them. Sometimes it's actually WORSE than what you read.

Brian -- I believe the term "love stud" was just a bit over the top. You take care -- hope to see you in Indiana.

Dan (PA SVX) -- I hate that your car dumped on you, but, I'm glad it waited until you could at least get to the meet. It was a pleasure meeting you. Good luck on the "recovery."

Ravi -- thanks for coming. I know it was up in the air for a while, but I'm glad it worked out. I wish we could've talked more.

Richard -- It was great meeting you. Putting faces with "handles" always makes the online conversations more interesting. thanks for being there.

Mummert -- You're always a joy. Next time you'll have to trade in the box o' wine for a box o' donuts.

Kelli -- Keep those purple lights glowin' no matter what the Stock freaks might say! All the best to George and John.

Ken -- Hope you get your starter problem figured out. It's got me stumped. Good to finally meet you (even if you did think I looked fat!)

Olu -- It was great seeing you again, as always. Perhaps we can talk some in Indiana -- I need some advice on putting my model together.

Don -- It made the meet complete to see you there. I'm glad you finally gave in to the call of the wild. Well, not "wild" really, but, more than sedate.

Brian (yeah, the other one) -- Don't worry. If you don't have an SVX by Reading IV . . . I'll join Doug in badgering the hell out of you until you do get one.

Unkle Worn -- It wouldn't have been a meet without you. Many thanks for all your years of help.


I hope I didn't forget anyone. These are the ones I remember having personal contact with, but, as old as I am, memory is getting weaker and weaker. I don't want anyone to feel unappreciated. I appreciate everybody connected with this network.

Thank you for another fun meet in Reading/Morgantown and
vicinity. Yes, the best laid plans do go astray but in spite of wrong turns and my runaway (driveaway) husband, we both had a good time. Someone at the meet counted 33 cars just before the tour started. But at that time Warren was off with Ron to find a spare tire and John (with Mary), who arrived after the tour left the Holiday Inn, had not been counted. Add those two cars and I think we had 35. If you counted 30 at Burger King, then I am positive at least 34 showed up as I am aware of four (one red, one black, one teal, one green) that did not tour.
Anyway, we appreciate the effort that goes into planning and executing a tour ...if a crowded restaurant, a few wrong turns, and some distended bladders were the only problems we had, then we had a successful meet. The countryside and bridges were good for reminding us of another kind of horsepower.
