And Bill, do we have a definite date yet? Or did I miss it?
Thanks,

Tenatively it is scheduled for sometime during the first half of August at the Phillips Seafood plant. Rufus has permission to use the parking lot there to have a mini-autoross as well.

Hopefully he will give us more info when he returns from Indonesia on the 23rd of July

The Phillips Sea Food plant is on East Fort Avenue which runs along the SOUTH side of the inner harbor, & dead ends at Fort McHenry, of Star Spangled Banner fame. You take the Key Highway exit off of I-95 near the south/west McHenry tunnel entrance, & follow it 'til you get lost & have to ask a Bawla-moron directions. Anyway, by now you're in the neighborhood. (Look for the neon - yes NEON! crab climbing up the big brick chimney).
The EXACT date has not yet been established. Rufus (Mike) will let us know when his Asian tour is over.

Ron (crustacean climber).

Well, I have a few minutes and an internet connection (a rare combination for me recently) while I'm waiting to get on yet another flight...

I want to shoot for late August or early September for the event. It will be held at the Phillips Seafood Headquarters building on East Fort Ave in Baltimore, about a half mile west of Fort McHenry. We have permission to use the parking lot for an autocross, but the size and shape of the lot will mean it is going to be a slow, tight course. No problem though, it will still be lots of fun. We also have an auditorium available with a projector and sound system if anyone wants to put something together for that.

As far as the food is concerned, we have a couple options. We can get crabs, or we can fire up a couple grills and have some grilled tuna steaks and shrimp and what not. Or a combination of the two. If we can reach a consensus here on what we feel is a reasonable per-person fee, I can get a couple menu options put together. I can also get a few people down there to cook and clean up for us, but that will add to the expense. Might be better to do that stuff ourselves.

I was planning to include beer and sodas too, so factor that into the per-person cost. The beer will not be served until AFTER the autocross however... that part is not negotiable.

We will hopefully be borrowing or renting the cones and timing equipment from another group. We will need to coordinate the event with their schedule to make sure said equipment is available.

This should be fun.

I'll get the event cost discussion going right now. I think our target cost per person for the event should be around $25-30 each. I can put together something nice for that price, but we will probably be cooking and cleaning up ourselves.

What do the rest of you think?

-Mike

Mike,
I'm definitely in at the 25-30 price. Anyway we can have it by the next to last week in August? My kids start back to school the last week of August, so things start to get a might "frazzled" getting everything ready for them.

p.s. ditto what Harry said re: help

evrything sounds great. I'd love to do it, but I can't commit until I get a hard date for it. I think I can locate a large grill, just need someone with a vehicle that can tow it. If you think we need it let me know and I can get more info.
