Charting the changes

Does anyone know of a source for information on the the changes Subaru made on the SVX from year to year, and what the various options/ models signified? I've got a '92 LSL, which I guess has the touring package because it's got a spoiler, but I saw a black one the other day that looked identical to mine except it didn't have a spoiler.

Appreciate any info here.

The spoiler was actually an option on the '92, even if you got the "Touring package" (Designated by the "L" in the LS-L). There were only two options in 92, and those were the Spoiler and the Block Heater. I've never known anyone to have the block heater. Telephone hook-up in the trunk was also listed as an option in the pre-debut literature, but, was listed as standard in some literature. I've never found the hook-up in my car, but, it may be there. I'd like to know where it is, since it would be the perfect wiring to hook up a CD changer with FM Modulator, with the Antenna being in the trunk.

Randy,

Not many people wanted to climb into the trunk to make or receive telephone calls. So I guess Subaru made it standard as another brillant marketing move to sell SVXes.

Yes, it's basically a simple "key on" power feed. Since the "big box" phones are passe and the feed is not needed for that purpose, it'd be perfect to power a CD changer unit, mounted in the trunk, or, perhaps an amp for those who are so inclined.

The ability to power up the changer unit and have easy access to the antenna leads would make it perfect for a "modulator" connection. Guess I'll dig around some more after checking through the Service Manuals.

I would be interested in finding this as well. I've been kicking around the idea of getting a wattage booster for my celly to have in the car with a handsfree speaker thingy.

How accurite is the cars101 thing? They list 215-50-16 as the tire size for '92 but on all my literature, door jams etc, it's 225-50-16

There are some discrepancies in the literature there. He had the 92 rear seat listed as 50/50 split for a while (until someone corrected him). There may be a few others, I haven't checked through the info lately. That was just one of the things that stood out to me. Stick with what's on your plaque, not what's on a website.

cell phone

Mine has the hand unit on the passenger side and the main unit in the trunk mounted between the speakers.

One of the two I looked at had the cell phone. The whole car was in bad condition though, so I didn't buy it.
