You won't be dissapointed. I've had Stebro on my previous cars but the "scotsman" in me won't let me replace a perfectly good SVX stock exhaust.

i have a custom magnaflow exhaust.......

you koow "true daul cat back", anyway the stebro sounds much better. it has a deep hollow tone that make the svx sing. it is not too loud and does not sound weak either. it is very well done. those of you interested in a new exhaust should jump all over this.

Stebro install

I installed the Stebro exhaust 2 months ago and I make the following suggestions to ease the installation:

Buy a new gasket $14.31 ( #10 ) (the old one CAN'T be re-used)
The sealing bearing between the muffler and center section CAN be re-used ( $44.07 )

http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=440-A

Finally, take out the 2 rear hanger brakets and drill a hole 1/2 " higher up and then connect the two holes into one elongated hole. This allows you to tilt the back side of the muffler up enough to center the tips in the opening. Otherwise the stock hole location lets the exhaust tips rest on the bottom of the skirt and MELT IT. This adjustment makes it look much better in my opinion.

Good luck to all!

Kit? What kit?

I didn't know there was an "installation kit". There were some generic stainless nuts and bolts included... but I don't think there would be anything in the kit that would make it easier except relocating the holes on the rear hangers.

I've seen other posts saying "be sure to ask for the SVX installation kit". Just thought it might make a difference, these Stebro folks are very meticulous... mebbe different hangers? It's another $17. US worth.

Yes they do have an installation kit...i do NOT recommend getting this...i ordered it and it did not come with my order, needless to say i put a stop payment until it got straightened out. All the kit includes is a few nuts and bolts as i was told. My mechanic installed the system while i was at school last year..if you need to know anythign about it, i will gladly get in touch with him and let ya know

*********** UPDATE ************

I appologise for not responding to the PM's... i was never notified they existed, so i never noticed they were there!

Since the majority of you guys will be ready to purchase it in the spring, I will arrange something at that time. I'd prefer if all of these were bought at the same time, since it saves me the trouble of talking to them each time someone else wants one I'll give them a list of the names of the people from the forum, and they will adjust the price accordingly.

Thanks again
-Ross

Anyone currently using this system? Wondering how does it sound? How did the installation go, etc.? Does L/F & R/F CAT.Converter's include the system? Thanks.....

I wasn't too impressed with the stebro, the way people talk about it sounding like a ferrari is very exaggerated. For that amount of money you could have a top quality custom exhaust installed with much better results. Plus the exhaust tips are sooo common. remind of a 3000gt. The svx's is original and one of the distinct features of the car.

It has a very very nice sound. Absolutely the best sound ive heard on a SVX. Alan (Landshark) has the stebro installed on his car and lives in Pittsburgh. Maybe he'll let you take a listen. The cats are not included. It is just a replacment for the primary and secondary mufflers.

Mike

PS- Where are you in Pittsburgh?
