Refrigerant control valve?

Hi all,

The Zexel DCW17BE a/c compressor is of variable displacement type and the discharge is controlled by a valve within the compressor. Does anyone know if this is an electric one controlled by the computer or a sealed mechanical one? There are two wires that go into the head of the compressor - are they for a speed sensor or the control valve?

My low side pressure is high (45-50PSI) and the high side low (140-150PSI). This is still an R12 unit, but running with R49 juice (just evacuated and refilled).

The symptoms could be caused by either a bad compressor, a sticking control valve or a malfunction in its control....

Is there a way to override the valve i.e. force it to produce maximum discharge.

Any insight to how the whole control system works would be much appreciated.

I also have a code 34 - mode door motor, but the mode selection does seem to work. There is funny sound from the dash, though - like creak every second or so.... like something rotating and rubbing. Any ideas?

Best regards from Finland,

Tapani
