Went psycho on the engine bay, pics inside

Well in the midst of having a bad alternator, i have spent a lot of time cleaning the engine bay and degreasing it to the max. took some pics of the progress, its starting to look pretty good.

But have you tried to run it since? You know that's normally when everything starts to break.

oh ya, i drove it up untill this week when the alternator finally gave out. The voltage regulator was toasted, doing hte xmas tree thing. Car runs great, could use some more boost but that will have to wait untill i get a new alternator and pay off a stupid ticket :/ Also i have a few steering and link bushings that are shot too. No rush, im enjoying just driving hte car, and its pretty quick as it is on 1/4 bar. But ya, usually **** does break when your cleaning, the curse of caring!

No prob. Yeah, I'm still around but won't be able to check in as frequently as I used to. I'm currently interviewing with Northrop Grumman and if all goes well, I'll be extremely busy in this new job.

The WRX is doing well. She just passed 13K miles last weekend. She's still stock power-wise and my only mods thus far have been a 29mm front swaybar, STI take-off RE070 tires, a performance alignment and a blitz LM panel filter. I'm starting to be quite competitive in D-Stock autoX's and I'm really looking forward to the Subaru Challenge in September!

Take care of that beauty!

good to here. Are you planning on keeping it mostly stock for the warrenty? with a mid 13 second car with a warrenty, i definetly would be taking the same route. Plus, no needto get yourself competing with better drivers right away, bask in your glory for a while

phil

PS: battery is sideways to fit the intercooler pipe next to it and the fusebox

its actually not too bad, if heat were getting too rediculous then i would think i'd be getting deformities in the fiberglass frame on the cf hood(or the hood itself) but all seems to be ok so far.

Warranty isn't a huge concern of mine, but it is an added plus. When I got this car, I told myself if I could go 13's stock, then I wouldn't do any power mods for a while... I'm definitely happy with her 'pep' in a straight line. I'm also very pleased with the 2.7 turns lock-to-lock steering which is super fast and communicative.

I actually find some of the best drivers compete in the stock classes in autoX. I plan on getting r-comps next year and maybe making my first trip to Nationals...

Chike,
You going to update the Cumberland autoX thread with your results from Saturday? Speaking of Topeka, think you can wait a year or two for Ben/Dave and myself to be ready in our respective classes so we can make a party of it?
-Bill (having officially accumulated 4 points in Pro Solo this year! Per the SCCA rules, I only need to participate in one or two more Pro Solo events to qualify for Nationals....not that it's going to happen this year )
