So I usually average 85 the whole way to work, about 22 miles. Then on Mondays and Fridays I get stuck in traffic going onto base and traffic coming home. Hopefully I'll be back up in the 20s after the 6spd.
6spd = final drive is higher, so rpms will be higher on the highway= your mileage probably wno't go up.

Thanks! Only problem with hers, it was from PA so there's rust. When I go back to visit in Nov. I'm going to hook her up with a good wash and wax.

(Geo Metros are also unsafe because you can't romp on the gas in emergencies)

also, does this apply to autos only or manuals too?
actually geo metros are suprisingly quick... the reason they are unsafe is the same reason that they are quick with a 1.0 liter engine... super skimpy construction i miss my old geo

Re: Lets improve our MPGs

I was averaging 20 MPG after my trans rebuild (4.44). I recently changed my starter and all the battery cables including the grounds. I am averaging 23 MPG now. Is it a coincidence or is the new trans breaking in?

Dan I reckon you are the one who is breaking in to the new trans. 4.44s do encourage spirited driving when first fitted, its just that you have come back to normal driving now.

Harvey.

I have no clue, but I noticed old threads everywhere have been getting revived...

If the subject is the same, It sure makes future searches easier. Less threads to wade through.

Re: Lets improve our MPGs

I don't have careful records of my MPG with my 5 speed; however, casual observation puts me in the 20 - 26 mpg range, depending on how much fun I'm having. So, usually close to 22, sometimes a little lower.
