What I did this weekend, and why I need to sell some parts

Well, I bought my SVX a few things for xmas Including, Wheel bearing, Koni's 05 WRX Radio, knock sensors, and an abs relay. I just got some 17" wheels as well. Needless to say, I need to sell some things so I can afford all that I bought

Koni Install:
Was able to finish it up this weekend. Everything went smooth, up until the spring compressor decided to blow up on me

WRX Radio:
Awesome! That is the only word to describe it. Fit great and I didn't have to do too much modification. Drilled out the spot welds like many others did, then only had to break off the white plastic retainer in the well. No cutting of the structural stuff had to be done. The thing looks and sounds awesome. Better looking than stock.

Burned the christ out of my finger whilst soldering blind.:

Mat - check your pms, what do you want with your old one?

Here are the wheels I bought. I will install them as soon as spring rolls around. Snow tires and banged up 92 wheels until then

Knock sensors are on order and should be in very soon.

Sorry for the long post and all the pics. There are plenty more in my locker! Just thought I would share

Also check out my thread in the for sale section for wheels. Soon to also be for sale is a Kenwood cd/mp3/wma player.

well can't say you didn't know that the spring compressor would die on you.. you DID buy it at harbor frieght plus this was like the 3rd time trying to use it...

radio looks good.. i don't think thats the same as the ones that come on the 02s cause my dads looks different.

Those snow tires look like they might be able to handle the indiana snow a bit better which are those again?

Yes, it has a line out for the subwoofer that can be adapted for full range line level to an external amplifier.

You should be able to find one used from an '05 WRX or STi owner who upgraded their radio.

I put one in Jess's Legacy. Sounds awesome.

Yeah, luckily it was almost all the way off when it decided to crack the welds.... I ended up renting one from autozone to finish up the job. I figure three uses (on all four) for $8 from HF was well worth it!

It is an 05 radio, they just changed over from the black one that you are thinking of. I had the option of an 04 with a tape deck for the same price, but went for this one.

The tires are MUCH better. They are Hankook W404's and they can be studded. 205-55/16.

I have to say though, this salt is horrendous!!! It was kind of sad when everything I took apart was caked in salt. I had to brush off the springs before I put the spring compressor on.

You should be covering that gap between the stock strut and the Koni's. My set included a rubber cap to put over each strut.

I think that is the rubber cap, the Koni is just sticking up a bit further. Or not.

The WRX radio does look awesome Collin. Congrats on the install!

Mother nature seems to have forgotten what season it is (we had a 65 degree today - tomorrow will be 70) so I was luckily able to install my rx-7 wheels with summer tires which I should be able to use for several more weeks. I'll be keeping my stock wheels and all-season tires handy though for whenever the white stuff decides to come along...

STOP COMPRESSING THE SPRING!

LISTEN CAREFULLY SVXER95...........That spring compressor that you are trying to use is very.....very.....very dangerous. Man if I could show you how dangerous it is without killing you I would. Let me explain....I owned an auto repair shop a few years back and was in the process of changing a pair of struts. I had the spring compressor on the spring and cranking (tightening) away with the air impact and all of the sudden the damn compressor decided to let go after I had the spring just about compressed all the way. All I heard was rushing air past my head as the spring suddenly came UNCOMPRESSED and shot by me...Did I mention narrowly missing my head......Well, the spring hit the top of my shops roof with the force of a cannon! Ummmm. did I mention that It passed my head first.....??????Well, as that's not it.......I had to watch this spring falling back to the ground after bouncing off the 20 foot ceiling and just...I mean just missed the nice Burgundy colored Cadillac that I was working on. Please! DO NOT USE that TOOL! The last person that I heard had an accident with that tool died from a broken neck after the spring hit him under the chin. Take it to a shop my friend and give them the few dollars that they charge to do the job. There is a very good spring compressor for that but it's about $500.00.
