The 'Curse" is alive and well at Yankee Stadium

I'd like to thank George Steinbrenner and all the NY Yankees for winning the AL pennant and for letting me get only 4 hours sleep again last night.

I'd also like to ask the Red Sox fans out there the following question; " Is Aaron Boone being elevated to 'Bucky Dent' status?"

I'm beginning to smell a fish fry . So my prediction for the series is Yankees over the Marlins in 5-6 games.

Calmone,

Why are you rooting for a Florida team.
You should be rooting for the Orioles.

If the Yankees are the best team that money can buy, then the Mets must be the worst team that money can buy in the NL, and the Orioles must be the worst team that money can buy in the AL.

I think the series really turned into a disappointment....Should have been the Cubs and the Sox... It's nice to see new teams playing for the crown...

I think this series will be a wash....I guess I want the fish to win.

Speaking of Cubs (who I can't stand) that 26 year old who caught the foul ball is gonna have a rough life!

Well the Yankees are quite possibly the most dominating sports team...ever...26 world titles, the closest after them is i think 9 by the cardinals. Don't go and say "well they buy their players...Jeter, Rivera, Bernie, Pettite, Posada, and Soriano all came about from the Yankee farm system. They're just nasty, and that's that GO BRONX BOMBERS...fan since the birth and til the end!

Larry:

Yes, once again the Accursed Sox managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...but I question whether it would have happened if Grady Little hadn't been coaching Game 7 for NY. (How else can you describe his leaving Martinez in past the 7th inning? Whatta bonehead move!)

another problem with the yankees winning is that i'll probably have to see that stupid f****** visa commercial with jeter and steinbrenner about 50 more times.

I don't think you can really blame Grady Little...only because where was their run production when Mussina was pitching? If Wakefield hangs knuckleballs like he did to Giambi (Looooooooong foul ball) obviously someone was going to put one out..."You hang 'em we bang 'em"

Pete,

I think Grady Little left Pedro in too long. He had already thrown 115 pitches. Joe Torre sometime does the same thing.

I am not all that impressed by the Marlin pitching. Overall I think that the Red Sox had a much better bullpen staff.

Thursday at work I predicted that the Yanks and Marlins would each win a game at The Stadium, then the Yanks would take 2 games in Fla. and finally win game 6 back in the Bronx.

PS: I wonder how much Steinbrenner is going to have to pay to get Juan Pierre?

If I was the boss and was looking for two players......Juan Pierre and Miguel Cabrera would be at the top of the list, since the Yanks are looking for an outfielder w/ Bernie being sluggish, and a rightfielder, Pierre could play center and Cabrera could play right, or just get one of them and have Soriano go out to the outfield.

Misc. Ramblings on the World Series

I'm getting too old to stay up every night to watch these games and than get up early in the morning.
Getting only 4 hours or less sleep every night is beginning to wear me out.
Like I tell Rosie, "I'm not as good as I once was; but I'm as good, once, as I ever was."

The Yankees are down 3 games to 2 and are in trouble now.
It's time for the ghosts at the Stadium to show up Saturday night.

I'm willing to bet that the 'f' in Aaron 'f-ing' Boone does not have anything to do with Fielding. It's hard to believe that the Yankees acquired him for his glove.

If you think that baseball has no place on this site wait until Superbowl time comes around.

Boone ticks me off, and I don't even follow the Yanks much. I could have made the last play he screwed up, and I would have done it for half of what they're paying him. Actually I would have probably done it for free as long as I got some autographs

I hope the Yankees will win the world series, not because I love them, I just hate the Marlins and their owner. Jeffrey Loria destroy the Montreal Expos chance to stay in Montreal. When he buy the team, he was saying that he wanted the Expos to stay in Montreal for a long time...yeah sure! The instant he got the Expos he start trying to move it away....Oh well, we're still having the Canadians and the Alouettes!

When the Expos will move, only one Canadian team will remain and I not a really big fan of the Blue Jays.

Last summer, I caught for this local college summer league team in the bullpen, and compared to high school pitchers, those guys are just plain old nasty. I've never experienced anything like it. Their closer threw 95+mph, and he was shorter than me! and I'm 5'9"!!! Two of them were drafted, one to the Cubs (ew) and one to the Blue Jays. The MLB draft is alot different then other major sports, but all in all it was a great experience. The best part was the little kids asking me for my autograph, even though i was just in the bullpen I was given a uniform and everything. Sweet deal!

On Aaron Boone though, his brother Brett is far more talented IMHO. If they got him for his leather, maybe he should DH...once I saw that ball go right through the wickets during the ALCS I immediatley knew some bad things were about to happen. I think they say they got him for his fielding because his hitting blew during the regular season once they acquired him. In the national league he was a really good hitter, with power, but thats the NL...this is the AL. If Soriano could touch the ball more often with his bat instead of whiffing, he would be an amazing player. 30+ HR's is quite a feat, but all those K's just kinda add up, and he's not real good in the clutch. Posada is my man though. He's like my idol
