battery relocation
I'm planning on relocating my battery to my trunk. unfortunately im nowhere near my car to find out how long of a cable i need. I was wondering if anyone knew how long of a battery cable i need to run from the front to the trunk?
Thanks.

Re: battery relocation
I don't remember how long the cable for my sub was, but I'd guess 10-12 ft. For the battery, it would need to be longer though. If I were you I'd get some extra just in case. Make sure and get really thick wire though, 4 gauge doesn't cut it I'm told.

Re: battery relocation
What is your reason for relocating the battery?

Re: battery relocation
I bought 20 ft of #2 for the racer and don't think we had much left after running it from pass side rear thru the firewall and then to the stock battery location. Don't skimp on the quality of the wire and don't forget grommets wher you pass thru metal.

Re: battery relocation
If its for racing, and/or you don't use much power, the latest trend is to put one of the lightwieght sealed batteries under the passenger seat to minimize cable and centralise the wieght.

Re: battery relocation
I don't think it can be in the pass. compartment at all per scca rules but its been quite some time since I read 'em and no longer have a copy. Since the SVX is quite front biased I definately noticed the movement of our battery to the trunk.

Re: battery relocation
2 reasons
1) planning on going turbo next year so i'll have more room for FMIC plumbing 2) easier to run a power cable to my amps for audio. at work we have battery cable on a spool so i can get it in bulk.

Re: battery relocation
How much/ft for different gauge? If cheap enough, might have to work something out.
