My light comes on when the needle is actually touching the E.
All these 18 to 25 mpg tick me off. I've never gotten above 15mpg on two separate SVX's, and I'm a conservative driver. But then the highest Octane out here is 91, and it's California tree hugging gas at that.

we run 93 octane minimum here in the midwest.
Damn...two days on the light? That's more dangerous than me drinking milk 2 days after the experation date |

My SVX is more unique. Every time after the fuel warning light on, I will not worry and keep driving until there's a warning sound (beep, beep, beep, from behind my dashboard) ... that means I only have 1 gallon gas left in the tank. I ain't worrying because if I drive in town I can easily locate a gas station in 5miles after the beep, beep, beep sound. Cool, right hahaha?
I'm just kidding. No such thing. I wish there's feature like this. There's one time I really ran out of gas on my Teal SVX. (I thought I had like 10miles to go according to my odometer) My gas gauge works fine. I had to call tow truck AAA that time , he came and gave me less than 2 gallons of "premium" gas. After that I drove to the nearest gas station about 3-4 miles, I only filled up my tank for less than 16 gallons. So I don't totally trust my fuel gauge. Sometimes it's depended on where you're driving. My both svxi work a lil differently on the fuel gauge. It's harder or I can't really get the needle touching the F even I squeezed a full tank of gas on the yellow one. I go to gas stations about every 3 days to buy one full tank of gas. I keep tracking each tank of my mpg. I just refer to it and know about my engine conditions. Not everytime is accurate if I use different gas or go to different gas station. Sometimes my mpg drop like 3-4 miles compared to last few tanks and I think there's some air in that tank.

You could have made it to 800kms. If you push your car or she's on tow, . I bet you might have to push your car if you're driving in the hilly area or stuck(traffic jams) at a hill for like 10mins. Dave, if you can get 27mpg, 27x18.5x1.609 = 803.69kms, you'd probably made it > 800kms.

I get about same or less mpg than you on both of mine. My friends' SVX get about the same mpgs because we live in a very hilly town. When I drive at other location, I was once got like 28-30mpg on my teal svx.(70mph AC on 4 people in the car) My lower gearing yellow SXV can only get 21-23mpg on the highway with spd more than 80, 85mph and AC on. I have noticed my lower gearing yellow svx probably gets 1 or 2 mpg better than the teal one in town sometimes because lower gearing has more torque and the engine works less harder to get to the same speed, I think.
