Transmission failure

I believe my transmission is starting to go out. Should I buy a new transmisson or have the existing one rebuilt? Also, if I'm going to get a new transmission, I would imagine this is the best time to put a shift kit on. Has anyone put a shift kit on their car. If so, what are the results and where can i get one?

I'd recommend a new transmission. Sometimes a rebuild doesn't address the cause of the failure, so it'll fail again. Some of the design flaws of the '92 (if that's what you have) may not be replaced. The cost is nearly the same (so I hear) and you get a 2year/24,000 mile warranty for a Subaru reman. transmission. So, you can have a peace of mind.... for a little while.

Good luck. We've been there!

Jeff

P.S. Oh yeah, I had horrible AWD binding and my AWD was pretty much shot, that was also fixed by a new tranny being installed. Another plus.
