Re: Every member please check in here!

I should probably also throw a post in since I'm around more often.

I'm not from Australia, but I do own an SVX.

She's rough, but I don't plan on keeping it that way.

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hi I'm Jewels,

I found my baby '92 Teal SVX LS_L Touring @ 92K miles In Dec 2009 She had a tranz rebuilt twice, yet I felt a bump when backing up so I insisted on an extended warranty. Turns out its my rear end sagging ...On The Car!

They had 90 days to turn me down and didn't. At 120 days the tranz went out, The warranty company cancelled me suddenly without cause, I had my lawyer write a letter pointing out the fine print and a fabulous mechanic who went to bat for me. The warranty covered 4K of the $5000 tranz.

I got her back headed to an island nearby for some R/R blew out the tranz.... limped her a crossed on the ferry where I could meet a tow truck to take her back to the shop. The shop never found a smoking gun just rebuilt it again. Since then no tranz issues.

I joined this board when I had several issues that baffled me in 2012. I no longer had the warranty or funds for a mechanic. Turns out it was a 25 dollar temp sensor that had me stumped for months!

I usually come on here when I have issues I haven't solved on my own, My son would like to have an SVX as well He fell in love with mine, took his drivers test on it and has chauffeured me for a year to learn how to 'Really' drive.

Currently my car has been sitting for 3 months, people keep telling me it's time to buy a new car, so I did ! I bought a POS Toyota Camery until I can figure out the electrical issue I am having, then the camery will be a spare the kids can drive around.

The people who keep saying I need a new car just don't know:
how in love with it that I am
how devoted to it I am
And that I NEVER intend on getting rid of her.

BTW I rarely use the words always and never, I choose my words carefully to speak truth.

Here is me diving my baby off the showroom floor, ain't we pretty together!

Re: Every member please check in here!

Well this is new since I was here last...

GreenMarine (Chris) here... Been on the forum for about 11 or 12 years now... Sold / Traded my SVX to a friend in exchange for a 2006 STi and a bunch of track goodies back in 2008 so I haven't been very active on here since then...

It's actually about time for me to start moving on from the STi too... Actually looking at a new VW Golf TDI sometime in the next year or so... Had my fill of Autocrossing and high performance Turbo cars... Time to think about efficiency and practicality now (what a boring chapter to turn in my life )...

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hey Chris, I'm partial to the sport wagon tdi myself and I hear rumors that they might be bringing a 4motion version to NA. However, the HPFP failure issue does frighten me a bit. I hope you find something you like. Personally, I would be real happy with a turbo diesel XV cross trek, but that doesn't look like a reality in the states.

Re: Every member please check in here!

It's been a couple years but I'm still here and I still have my 96 SVX LSI on the road regularly. I wasn't sure if this forum was still active but I'm glad to see that it is.

Here's a link to some photos of my Laguna Blue Pearl beauty!

Re: Every member please check in here!

I have owned my SVX for the passed 13 years has been a great car. Tried selling it a few time but couldn't go threw with it. Doesn't cost much to run and if you keep up with repairs you have nothing to worry about. I have owned a ton of cars and this one has out lived the all. Still runs like a dream.

Re: Every member please check in here!

I have owned an SVX since 93. I don't find it to be a lot worse than any old car that my friends own. Maybe even better.

Love the SVX. This is the most "Bang for the Buck" you can drive on the highway. A great GT for very little money. My '96 LSi will probably take me to the grave (after a couple transmissions).

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hi all

I have been trying to get my account activated since I bought my SVX in July. Activation finally came through today.

I remembered drooling over the SVX in the early 90's but being in my early 20's at that time it was not going to happen budget wise.

Last July I stumbled across an eBay add with a 92 for sale about 15 miles from me. The owner was a collector who owned a number of Mercedes plus one SVX. Apparently he preferred the German stuff because he had a lot of miles on those but the SVX was perfect and had only 36k miles. Climate controlled garage kept with excellent maintenance documentation. It is perfect.

I snatched that sucker up real quick. Paid probably too much. Wife calls it my midlife crisis car.

That's a beauty! Congratulations! I'm sure we'd all love to see lots more pics and learn a lot more about this car. The paint is gorgeous.

"Wife calls it my midlife crises car." A very fine mid life crisis. Very fine looking and a that pearl white is one of the most beloved colors. (just a note that the chromed wheels might detract a bit from the main beauty of the car IMHO.)
