94 SVX L - $7800 - Houston Area
1994 Subaru SVX L with 142K miles. Awesome red paint with gray interior, Murano wheels complete the perfect look, the fit is perfect. One of only 1666 ever made this year. Kenwood stereo with rear camera, amplifier and sub woofer. It has bluetooth with microphone by the sun visor. It gets looks from people where ever I go and the reactions are great. If you can imagine a face that says "what the hell is that??!" then you know the expressions I see every day as I drive around town. If there is one thing the Subaru SVX is known for is its unique body style. The most striking feature of the car is the windows. The window design of the SVX was created with the goal of good aerodynamics, unobstructed visibility and a distinctive appearance. These cars were intended to be noticed, and they certainly were.
About the common SVX transmission problem (shifting kit installed 4 years ago) - Small Car Performance sells a shift kit that solves the SVX transmission problem. SVX Transmissions do not have enough hydraulic line pressure when shifting. Subaru softened the shifting by decreasing the line pressure. This causes the bands and clutches inside the unit have to slip a certain amount when they engaged the next gear. How much slippage occurs has a direct effect on the amount of heat produced as well as how much wear results from each shift. Their shifting kit gives the advantages of firmer shifts resulting from higher line pressure without the side effects of shifting too hard. They control this with a adjustable resistor and engine vacuum and it works great. The trans fluid has been changed every 25,000 miles with full synthetic trans fluid. A good operating trans cooler is also very important on these cars. Also this car does not have the headaches that the AWD models have, which put a whole lot more stress on the transmission. The transmission in my car shifts perfect. If you want it firmer or softer it can be adjusted. This one worked perfect right on of the box. So it was left alone. Two more things about these cars. The AWD models have a issue with Rear wheel bearing failure. This car is a FWD. It will not have this issue. Absolutely no advantage of owning a AWD in Texas---No snow, no ice, and no mountains. It will not have this issue. And the only other issue these cars have is the 4 wheel disc brakes work great and have good stopping power, But if you work them real hard they will warp the rotors. This car has all new upgraded brakes front and rear. |
