Send a PM to Myxalplyx. He's a really cool guy and owns an XT-6. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to share his wisdom with ya!

Rust is the biggest problem.
The cars themselves are essentially similar to the zillions of DL/GL/Loyale wagons and sedans of the same era. Other than the 4EAT, any part on the car shouldn't cost more than $400, if that, and they are simple to work on too. Quote:

I have been searching for a long time for a rust free xt6 or xt turbo 5 speed 4x4 in my area.
No luck so far and I am in SC where I have seen pintos and diplomats with solid bodies on the road.

I've got a couple of XT6s, and neither have any rust problems. I'm in Washington State, and we don't put steel-remover on our roads during the winter. (We prefer paint remover instead.)
Can you tell I loath sand/gravel and salt? The variable-assist power steering and air suspension tends to fail. The air suspension can be challenging to fix, but once you understand exactly how it works it's quite possible, but can be expensive. I think the problem with the power steering is that the brushes for the electric motor wear out or fail. I don't recall exactly what the problem was, but I remember that it wasn't the end of the world and that it can be fixed properly so as to prevent it from recurring. Aside from those two problems, they tend to be pretty good little cars. I'm looking at acquiring a third one. |

Talk to TapperManor. He owns 6 or 7 XT's, and I believe 3 of those are XT6's.

Well, I looked at it, its purty rusty. It needs front and rear fenders and a drivers side door. I found an XT at a local yard. Guy wants 35 per fender. The one at the yard is not an XT6, but would the fenders work? They also had another XT there, for a door(the one with the fenders has shaved door handles But the price is really cheap for the XT6. It has no battery, and theres a sound coming from the engine the lady said, oil pressure is good, she said its probably a lifter.
