Exclamation Registration for the 10th Annual 48hrs of Tristate is Now Open! Jan 12-16, 2011

It's that time of year again, when the Auto-x has quieted down, the Road Race Courses are closed, the Car Meets are finished for the year, and you are stuck at home with your Subie just itching to get out there and see other Subaru enthusiasts. Well luckily for you for the past 10 winters we have been holding The 48hrs of Tristate. This event has grown from a group of 5 cars raising about $1000 for World Trade Center Attack Victims in 2002 to our highest ever last year in 2010 where we had 60 cars registered and raised over $35,000 for The American Cancer Society.

The trip takes place over 4 days this year because we are being hosted at both the Subaru of American Corporate Headquarters in Cherry Hill, NJ as well as a private tour of the Subaru of Indiana plant in Lafayette, IN. You will make new friends and bond with old ones as we go on an adventure across 5 states and over 1,500 miles together.

There is no "fee" other than the required Driver donation to The American Cancer Society (a tax writeoff too). We usually secure over $10,000 in door prizes from Subaru-oriented Vendors which we raffle off to registered participants (be they drivers, passengers, or folks who donate to ACS through our site who can't make the trip).

The route this year starts in Cherry Hill, NJ and ends in Harriman, NY.
Jan 12- Pre-event Offroading in The Pine Barrens
Jan 13- Opening Breakfast at SOA Headquarters
Jan 14- Plant Tour and Raffle at SIA Plant
Jan 14- Cookout at Turnin Concepts
Jan 15- Highways and Byways travel to Buffalo, NY for some Hot Wings
Jan 16- Backroads and Highways tour through Ithaca, NY to Harriman, NY

All the Details can be found at http://48hrs.info

The sooner you register, the sooner you can start helping raise money for The American Cancer Society.

Very cool! I probably can't do the 4 day road trip but I live very close to Ithaca, NY and would love to meet fellow Subaru and SVX folks as they pass through. I would be willing to give people a tour of Ithaca and/or the local wineries. In fact, the best wine being made in the finger lakes is at a winery just north of Ithaca. We have some very good wineries (if you know someone that can separate the good ones from the bad ones for you!) and Ithaca has some great cafes and restaurants.

I can probably do that! Is the map set in stone? I ask because a slight deviation in your path down between Seneca and Cayuga lakes could bring you past a few exceptional wineries. Depending on how much deviation you want, you guys can hit 1, 2 or all three of them. Basically, it involves going a little farther south and then cutting east. I would also suggest making a pilgrimage to Wegmans in Ithaca. It sounds a little bizarre to visit a grocery store but it will be worth it! Those in upstate NY know what I mean. Finally, people in need of a car wash or wax might want to consider stopping at a Delta Sonic in Buffalo.

I bet Delta Sonic and/or Wegmans would be willing to be sponsors of the event. I can make some calls if you would like.

Map isn't in stone, but we run a fairly tight schedule. We'll likely be taking some backroads down from the the NYS Thruway. I took my SVX on this trip for at least 2 or 3 years. I'd love to get some more SVX interest going on this!

I will try to do the drive from Buffalo with you guys. I will probably hit a Delta Sonic while I'm up there.

Let me know on the wineries. I can get you the exact addresses so you can see how much longer the drive will be. If you want to hit one winery, let me know what the preference is. I can send you to a great dry white wine winery (Chardonnay fermented in both oak and stainless steel) or a great dry red wine winery or a great dessert wine winery (Ice wines made from Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewurtztraminer and Vidal).

I'd be interested in the wineries for myself. I think though on Sunday we'll be moving a bit too quickly to stop for a tour though.

We don't need to do a tour. We could just do a tasting or two or three. The tastings take about 15-20 minutes.
