Power Seat Fix

For those with power seat switch problems, maybe I can help. I
recently fixed mine after going two weeks with mine in the fully
reclined position posting messages like yours, hoping someone would
know how to fix it. Finally I took the whole seat out and tried to
figure it out. Luckily, you won't have to take the whole seat out
like I did, since I think I know what is wrong with yours.

The switches have carbon build-up on them over time from the
electrical contact. The carbon builds up enough that it prevents
the switch from making an electrical connection which moves the
seat. Here's how to fix it-

Carefully, take the side plastic panel off the seat. Once off, the
switches and wires will still be attached to the seat, so don't just
yank it off. You can tilt it enough to remove each switch via a few
screws. Once a switch is loose from it's position, take a thin,
flat screwdriver and pry the switch apart from the side.
CAREFULLY! Once apart, you'll find a copper lever-type piece in
there that actually makes the electrical contact, working the seat
motor. If that lever has black stuff on it like mine did, that's
probably your problem.

Take a small piece of fine sandpaper and sand off the carbon. Put
the switch back together the way you took it apart and remount the
switch in the plastic seat part. I would suggest doing all switches
now since it's apart so you don't have the next one go bad a few
months or years from now. Put the plastic part back on the seat and
you should be good to go.

FYI, that happens too on the electrical contacts for the power windows. My passenger window would not go up any longer. I had to take the master switch on the driver's side and clean it out. I also wrapped aluminum foil around the metal contacts for a better electrical contact. Works like a charm!
