Would these rims fit an svx

16x8 5x114.3 +33mm offset

I ran a 8.5" with 35 offset, so I'd say yes.

did they rub at all, even with the steering wheel pinned to one side or the other?

I think 40 offset is recommended, but people have used other sizes with no problems.

I'd think you should be able to find 17 or 18" with tires for $500 or less. No shortage around here. How bad do you want BBS?

No rubbing whatsoever. They were 18 X 8.5 w/ 215/40-18s on there, but 225s would have been fine as well. The full fender looked very good.
