Exclamation Reading 20: This Fall or next Spring?

.
Now that things are starting to settle a bit, let’s get some opinions as to what to do. Try to have a fall meet or postpone it until May 2021?

Post your thoughts and we can always add a poll at a later date.

Re: Reading 20: This Fall or next Spring?

Since I may, or may not make it, my say doesn't carry much weight, but I think this fall, it'd be a shame to NOT have a Reading Meet in 2020, as it would be the first year without one this century (I believe)

Even a scaled down one for fall would be cool.

I prefer to err on the side of caution. Until we see how the virus responds to the reopening of the states, I'm not comfortable doing anything non-essential. I don't have anyone to take care of things at home if I have to spend a week or two in the hospital.

How about a informal sampling of dates before doing an actual poll?

Mid-September to Mid-0ctober? Before Halloween?
November starts getting in the election, holidays, another flu season and cooler weather.

Re: Reading 20: This Fall or next Spring?

The damn coronavirus will start making a comeback around mid-October so best if it is before then. I am ok with any time from late August to early October.

You say that like the coronavirus is dormant. In case you aren't paying attention, the numbers are rising, especially in the states that are reopening.

I'll wait. I don't like to tempt fate.

I plan to attend this fall if it is held, but will also be keeping an eye out on how things are progressing.

Re: Reading 20: This Fall or next Spring?

Given the responses, here is a listing of possible dates. Dependent totally on the variables and restrictions that may be in place.

Right now the size if gatherings in PA is 250. Not sure how this would work outdoors by then concerning face masks and social distancing. I would hate to have a rainy day where we are stuck indoors and drinking mimosas with Asti, through aquarium tubing, underneath the face masks . It would be a Reading unlike any other and not in a good way.

Opinions please before I start a proper poll

September 18-20
September 25-27

October 2-4
[October 9-11
October 16-18
May, 2021

But in light of the recent developments of the past few days with the Covid cases spiking again and further lockdowns, I am inclined to agree with Diana that the unnecessary risks involved for this meet are not worth the gamble. I am convinced that skipping this one and waiting until 2021 is the best option.
