Question How many SVX's...

...are still on the streets worldwide?

Is there a statistic, where you can look for how many SVX's are in a specific country?

For example: In Austria there is a statistic you can get information of how many cars (sorted by brand and type of car)
are registered.

I would be interested in how many SVX's were wrecked or totalled and how many are still alive in different countries.

I think that's impossible but maybe somebody knows a chance to get that information.

You might not be able to tell specifically what kind of car, but if you browse around on the internet you might find some kind of data as to what percentages of a car will be remaining, given its age. Or it might be a function of age, with a little bit given reliability, collectibility, etc.

I assume about 10-15% are dead now if not more. I talked to Suby dealers and they inform me that most of the SVXes they know are dead in one way or another and many eneded up in junkyards already.

I think maybe he meant most of the "living" ones are in Pittsburgh! You know, because so many active posters are from that area.

I would ASSUME (and I emphasize ASSUME) that somewhere there are one or more different entities tracking this information on any given model of vehicle.

One would be the Department of Motor Vehicles in each state (at least in the U.S. this applies). Every SVX on the road (or most likely in storage too) would have to be licensed with the state. If someone had access to all 50 states, every country with SVXes, etc, they could gather all these numbers and tally them. The DMV probably also tracks the VINs of cars that are totalled as well.

Subaru probably has all the SVXes registered in a database as they were sold. For that matter any that aren't yet sold (that one on ebay a while back may have been the last of those). They also keep track when a new owner buys a used one if that person calls in, goes to a Subaru dealer for service, etc. They probably don't know when one is totalled though.

Anyway, I'm sure there is a source for the information out there, accurate to within a couple hundred or less. But no easy or legal way to obtain such data.

I wish I knew where those junk yards were. I had a heck of a time finding yards with XT6's, ones with SVX's must be darn near non existent.

a better question might be....how many 4EAT's have been consumed by SVX's over the years. that would be interesting to know!

XT6s in junkyards

Heck you're close enough. Harry's U Pull it had a good 15 XTs maybe 5 XT6s last time I was there. Just a few hours drive. The prices are worth it!

SVX in Mexico

I don't know how many SVX are in Mexico, but in Ensenada, Baja California, there's four, (mine is the best). Two of them aren't imported. Ensenada is a small city, but beautyful, and I think 4 SVX in a small city in Mexico is A LOT!.

It seems as though Colorado might contain a larger number of SVXs per unit of area in relation to other states. I spot at least 3 a week on any given highway. As I've traveled to many different states, I feel as though I've got a good basis for comparison.
