Re: so close to being mine

The optimist in me says no spoiler eliminates the issue with the spoiler peeling and makes the trunk lighter and easier to wax. Also mine has a tendency to leaks when it rains heavily.

(but I still love my spoiler)

What do you mean keep it from them? They have to offer you a buy back if they total it... which I'm sure will be relatively cheap. I really wouldn't expect something like that to cost much to get fixed to begin with anyways...

they want to total my xt6 because the cost is greater than the value of the car.

which is bull that my xt6 is only worth $800

Nah, probably is only worth about that especially in insurance eyes. So buy it back for 250 and take the 500... .and fix it yourself whenever you get a chance. You could probably push/complain it to an even $1,000 considering KBB is never really fair but what can you expect.... 75% is in repair cost or more is when they total it. You got quotes for the repair costs involved that work with insurance companies? It always feels like an evil scheme of insurance adjusters and companies who fix the cars for them at a premium price we always get screwed in the end. I had the same issue with when I got rear ended in my SVX but finally settled for what I felt was acceptable. It extended the closing by about a month but I was willing to wait.

Re: so close to being mine

the appraiser showed up and he understands the xt's
surprised on the low mileage and how solid my xt6 is

he understands why i don't want it totaled.

so far its all a repeat from the front accident.

as for the SVX

Re: so close to being mine

You can get this one right now. Needs some work but a solid body and running and driving.

And with it being from eastern PA, it likely has no rust, rather than having a ton of rust.

After seeing the posts about the laguna the same guy was selling, i wouldn't be too confident about him holding the silver one for you, either.

Let me get this straight. You got $1100 for the damage to your XT. That means that this car is $150 more than you got, yet you have to wait until your next paycheck. That makes it seem like you don't even have $150 laying around. Please, PLEASE do yourself and the SVX a favor, and don't buy it. It seems like you don't have the resources to take care of maintenance or repairs on the SVX. It's a cheap car to buy, but a very expensive car to own.

I have to agree with Mike on this one. Do you know the full maintenance history? Even just changing fluids across the car will add up and is something I do on any car that I am buying used. Even doing the work yourself, the parts are more expensive than the XT. Also, why not just keep driving the XT instead of parking it just because you are buying the SVX?
