Question General Engine reliability

I've been on this list and the Yahoo list for a while now and haven't heard a single bad thing about the 3.3l engine itself.

Has anyone here had a major problem, (bearings, rings, burnt valves, loss of compression, even valve train issues...).

I'm keeping mine forever of course, But I would be interested in what kind of engine problems have ever been experienced by the list?

Thanks
Collins

At about 218,000 miles my oil pump and crank seal are starting to go. Now I have over 220,000 and I'm going to replace them soon.

Other than that, everything is perfect.
(Doug looks around for a large peice of wood to knock on)

Just replaced Crank seal and pump at 120k. Did the timing belts too because it was convenient.

The engine is reliable

just don't let it overheat as you will probably destroy the head gaskets. Mine overheated last summer due to neglect on my part and I had to replace the head gaskets this summer when it would not maintain temperature with the AC on.

Im pretty rough on my engine, and with 125k, it's as smooth as when it was new. I love it!

Me too! My first car.. ahhh how nice it was. I paid $3200 for it with a perfectly rebuilt engine, beat the $#*( out of the poor thing and sold it for $750 a year later.. oh well, I had fun..

The first owner of my 95 SVX had the engine block crack at 50k miles (early 1999). Luckily he had the Subaru Gold warranty, which covered him for 5 years or 60k, so he was spared the cost of replacement.
