Rear passanger brake caliper.

Mine if FROZEN stuck onto the rotor. I'm gonna need a new one, or suggestions on how to fix the old one.

Re: Rear passanger brake caliper.

Rock Auto has rebuilt's for $40-50.

Last time I did mine and had to replace one, I found that Legacy rear calipers are a direct swap.

I can wait. I'd also like to see your SVX. I never really get to see any.

Re: Rear passanger brake caliper.

It might be the brake line. When too much dirt gets into the rubber lines, they can clog causing the pressure to not be released and you get a seized caliper...

Re: Rear passanger brake caliper.

There are some pretty strong arguments for rebuilding or replaciing BOTH axle set calipers. Not mandatory, but recommended particularly in high rust areas.

Re: Rear passanger brake caliper.

I would either get a new one or rebuilt one and I would replace both of them instead of just one. The other option you have is to rebuild them yourself. There is a How-To in the forum that tells you how to do it and the parts that you would need.

Not hard at all. Brake lines clog in the soft rubber hose part, never in the hard lines if this is in fact the problem. You could use this opportunity to just go ahead and get stainless steel lines. You can get them off of ebay for around $80 shipped for all 4 I believe. If you still have a problem, then replace the caliper.

Re: Rear passanger brake caliper.

I've got a similar issue with my left rear caliper. Would it be ideal to replace the rubber hose there too? And what is a part number for the hose if anyone knows?

Re: Rear passanger brake caliper.

just buy rebuilt ones and replace. i just did my rears due to calipers not releasing. is that brake is smell? oh look smoke off the rear rotor.
mine came w/ mounting brackets to.
just let fluid run thru for a lil bit to flush no need to "bleed" brakes if you don't hit the brake pedal while working on it.
don't to forget to release booster residual vacuum.
