Question Transmission Resistor

I am intrigued by and interested in the posts relating to the open circuiting of the transmission resistor. As I have electrical, electronic & mechanical knowledge I would like to become informed regarding where it exactly fits into the transmission control system before I start experimenting. It is appreciated that increasing the resistance or opening the resistor circuit increases the line pressure but why/how does it do this?

Unfortunately I do not have access to a circuit diagram and having searched the archives to no avail I am hoping there is someone out there who has knowledge of the system or someone who has a circuit diagram.

Thanks in anticipation, Trevor.
