My desk was from ikea, so mine doesnt have welds. Just pegs, pins, and funky screws that you have to put in with the unusual little tool that they provide. Brilliant.

The funny part is, the weight of my computer is holding the desk together. Quality item right here.

...you inspect welds on common non-structural stuff too? Crap, forget desks..I inspect the welds on everything weld I SEE. This includes desks, chairs, coat racks, shelves, bike parts, tac welds on any kind of sheet metal, and you damn better know the welds on every car I've been under
Hell, today I was admiring the tig welds on the stainless steel clothing displa rack we have at work. Thing is a work of art, and could probly hold 300 pounds if it had to
