Those are some interesting searches. I'd be really curious as to who was using that asbestos and what for.

Heck, there's even a town in Quebec called "Asbestos" which sits on the western world's largest known deposit of chrysotile. So I don't see a solution to this problem in the near future. Asbestos continues to be a big money maker for the Quebec economy. Only when everyone stops buying it will Quebec stop producing it.
I completly understand. Like the cigarette industry. Until people stop smoking, cigaretts will continue to be made.

My aunt is Joann Meyers. You can say that I am a little bitter at Canada's continuance to pump up their asbestos industry, so sorry if I lashed out.
I just read that whole article, and I'm so very sorry about your Aunt and what happened to her. Nobody deserves that sort of horrible death! Your bitterness, grief and sadness are completely understandable, and I thank you for letting me in on this part of your family history.

This is a topic that touched you and your family very personally. I'd say you actually showed quite a bit of restraint there in your reaction.

Asbestos.

Doug, here in Australia we had a Co, James Hardie that mined and produced asbestos products, even though it was known that it caused lung damage, from as far back as the late 40s. When it was finally banned, the Co. just moved its operations overseas. This has prevented victims from calming compensation here in Ozz.

I as a motor apprentice, I spent many hours grind the asbestos brake linings, fitted to brake shoes, with the dust clinging to face, hair and clothing. We were not told of its effects, or the dangers of contact with this product.

I knew a family of father and three sons that operated a Brake and Clutch shop, in the 70s, they all died from Asbestoses. I just try to ignore the fact that I may end up the same.

Harvey.

Harvey, I'm very sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with you & your family. Unfortunatly James Hardie is still alive and well. In fact, it was just being installed on a neighbor's house last summer.

Quite a dog-gone accomplishment if you ask me.

Gosh, do you remember what the colour code was on election day?

Ehhh... Let me sit down my popcorn and jump up on the box and say something about racism/discrimination.

Racism/Discrimination is not just a black thing. It hasn't been since the mid 60's.

The US recruiting command guarantees to most (depending on ASVAB score) a particular job when you enlist. Electronic Tech, whatever.

They input the name, SSN, race, and ethnic background.

If you input that a person is black, or hispanic, the number of jobs available jump drastically.

They also accept a limited amount of non high school graduates per year. If they have a white non-grad... don't even bother sending them to MEPS. They MUST be Black.

Recruiters in the Navy work on a "point" basis for awards, etc. It's a set 3 points per recruit. A bonus point is given if the recruit is Black or Hispanic.

Navy recruiters are literally "goaled" with Blacks on a monthly basis. They will run over a white guy to get to the Black guy.

Blacks are called "Bumgee's" which is slang for "Black upper mental group".
Hispanics are Humgees, and Asians are Pumgees. No points for Asians.

Now....... Who's getting discriminated against, and who is feeling the racism?
Sounds to me like everyone is in one way or another.

And nothing ticks me off more than to hear someone say "reverse discrimination". Discrimination is discrimination. To call it reverse discrimination just because it's against a white guy is discriminatory in itself.

OK,. Back off the box.

Hey Bipa, I think it's more to do with the title of the thread.

Asking what Bush has gotten right is like asking which wine goes better with rat poison. "Bush" and "Right" just don't mesh.
