Question about Alt. wiring upgrade

I was planning to do the Alt. wiring upgrade before my car became posessed, but I have a question. If you add a 4 gauge wire from the Alternator directly to the positive post of the battery, doesn't it by-pass the fusible link?
What is the fusible link for? Is it dangerous to by-pass it?
Why didn't they just use a fuse?
Thank you.

I have mine done a while back. It works fine. I don't think there are any harm to the car apart from the fact that now that your lights are brighter, you get highbeamed alot from other drivers.

No, it doesn't bypass the fusible link. Everything's just like "normal" except you have a bigger, better, cleaner path for your power to flow through.

The fusible link is that final "stop-gap" that keeps from frying your entire system. You can pretty well be sure that there's some bad mojo goin' on when you blow that sucker, so, take good care in finding your problem.

What Randy said is true. We haven't bypassed or reconfigured any wiring. The additional positive wiring starts and stops where the original wires are connected. The 2 additional ground wires just supplement the inadequate ground wire already there
