PS lite on dash and PS not working / sometimes
....after 3 SVXs this is a first !! Once in a while, upon immediate start-up of the car the PS lite on the far left of the dash stays on, and the PS feels like its almost not there. I get maybe 20% working. PS Pump is new, and has plenty of fluid. Weirdest thing is it only happens every other time or so, sometimes it works just fine no prob. I may of heard some minor "clunk" noises while in a tight turn fast or slow....I need to check out the front end this week and get the car aligned anyway. My guess its something to do with the Speed sensative part of the steering, some pump, selenoid or whatever.......Anyone else have this happen to them?
Just curious as to what I might be in for......... thanks......Dayle

I'm going to try some logic here
If a defective speed sensor would return a speed of 0 mph then if that was a problem with the steering then the PS light wouldn't be on when you start the car. Also if the speed sensor is defective wouldn't it cause an error code itself? My Justy would trigger a speed sensor code if it was idling above 1500RPM for more than 30 seconds (normal in the winter when I was letting it warm up). The clunk noises while turning is most likely coming from the C/V joints. (Take it easy around the corners or it will get worse fast) Are all the PS hoses ok (no leaks)? When we changed the o-ring on my car and put everything back together my dad had me go through the full steering range a few times to make sure there was no air in the lines (another thing to check for). I also assume your belts are tight and not slipping. These are the few things I can come up with. I'm sure a few others out there will have their (better) suggerstions

its too spuratic
Hoses are all new.....no leaks or anything at all.
....but it doesnt do it everytime I drive it which makes me think its something electronic more then mechanical. Im going to have it scanned this week, have it aligned and have all the 'wearing items" checked out and bring it back to new condition. Any other input would be cool .......thanks dg
