Door Mirror upgrades

Hi there,

my SVX came with non-motorised flip-in/out mirrors.

I have recently bought a set of JDM ones together with mating harness connectors and the dashboard switch.

Since the colours are wrong for my car I am simply going to swap over the outers.

Is it a simple case of simply wiring colours correctly to one another or is there a relay or timer module that I also need so that when the switch it flicked to move mirrors they are not "on" perm?.

Also how on earth do the mirrors come apart? - maybe some one should do a "how to" doc..

Re: Door Mirror upgrades

There is a how too somewhere and we will look for it. (now attached) There is also a folding circuit on You tube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Q02pww3kw. It works great for us (excepting a relay buzz on the open cycle).

Also there is a thread somewhere on swapping mirror mounts.

Be advised JDM left and right mirrors (glass) are convex like USDM right hand ones. Might be a bit disconcerting unless you swap the glass also.

how to thread How-To: Modify & Install JDM Mirrors in USDM SVXi http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=62502

Re: Door Mirror upgrades

Thanks for the info - the glass is not an issue for me as Japan/Australia/New Zealand/UK all drive on the same side, hence no need for bent screwdrivers.

The How To Doc could be modified to add the following -

PAGE 3 (lower picture) - beware of lower center tab, do not force apart, use small blade screwdriver and slide down outside vertical wall for about 10mm, insert screwdriver till you feel the web from the lower tab dissapear, then push down slightly to disengage clip.

Page 7 (lower picture) - in order to remove surround, bend long screw plastic eyelet to be infront of glass (to achieve this pull out and over) rotate black surround slightly and pull along the length of glass.

As a bonus when I finally got mine apart I found that they were both heated !!! (but that is for another day)

Now you just need the switch and maybe a fuse to heat the mirrors. I think the wires are in the harness for the heating elements

Re: Door Mirror upgrades

Got the heater switch, and yes the wires are in the mirror harness already...

But I have an issue - I cannot locate the following (because they were not fitted on my car) - I need the following to make mirror foldout operation work ----

83313PA100 Timer-Mirror module + the mating connector with short section of wiring......

Anyone got this pair that they are willing to part (or find the from pull-a-part) for my project then please PM me we could do a swap for a QC that I have spare.

TIA
