Restructure "Regional SVX Forum & Clubs"
If we could re-think how the administrators structure the Forums by location, what could be improved? Being from Colorado, I noticed that some states are more or less "left" out...."In the Middle"? ( in my opinion!) What do you all think? Is it ok the way it is? How difficult would it really be if each state had it's own forum for organizing rallies, meeting local owners, and organizing statewide meets??

Thanks John!
I've been asking about this for a while now..... Those of us in Utah are in the same group as the Californians.... That just not right (not that I have anything against the left coasters...) I just think that there should be a "Intermountain" Group.... Maybe... Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado? Montana?? Maybe Nevada (cause I like to gamble... )

Being from abroad this does not affect me, but the point is a valid one, and I have a suggestion relating to it. Using the information already available on the board about the location of various members, not the full address mind, just the town, why not do up a map of the US and red dot every place an owner lives? That way it would be easy to see where the concentrations of members are at a glance. Using this info, you could pick out nodal points, areas of high ownership. These points could be used as regional centres, pulling in members from adjoining states. That way meetings organised would result in minimal travel for the most members. Then set up a forum for any area that qualifies as a Regional Centre based on mumbers of active owners? Any use to you?? Joe

Joe has a fantastic idea! Not only would it be useful for planning centralized meets and regional forum structure, it would be just plain cool to look at!

How about divide it into timezones?

What time is it now anyway?
That would for example be Alaska to Arizona. I think it would need to be a little smaller that that. We have smaller areas now than that, so the time zone idea may not work out.

SVX map
A map of where each SXV lives might help a thief locate a target, but it is still a cool project.
Maybe we can add a pair of lat/lon fields in the profile section with the option to HIDE from user's view. An admin could pull the data down (and only the lat long fields so you don't know who is where for the paranoid or those running from the law!) Take the datapoints and map them with GPS software on a World map to show the concentrations of SVXs. Cool, eh?! I'd be interested in helping. -Stephen <<edit>> for spelling. and I removed my location from my profile. Last edited by Paxton71; 02-26-2003 at 11:55 AM. |

If nothing else, the number in each state would help more than what we have now.

Yes, anything helps more than what we have now! I'm not sure we should get down to lat and lon, but if we could just map the towns as people have in their profiles, that would help. For instance here in WA, we have about half the active posters in the western half and half in the eastern half. (wow, that was a lot of "halfs" for one sentence ). For those not in the know, the two sides of our state are divided by the Cascade Mountain range, which effectively splits our state into two separate climates and really ways of life. It also makes crossing from one side to the other more than a casual jaunt, even more so in winter. This may be the case in other places as well. Where someone on the edge of one state might be more prone to meet up with folks from another state that has a central member base closer than their own state. I'm just rambling.
